blatently close to the edge.

their masterpieces are like thge yes album, fragile, ctte, tales (not everyone thinks so) and relayer. In comparission to all the other these excel and the others fall way behind

"Close to the edge" for me. I did hesitiate briefly, considering "Going for the one" and "Tales..", but hand on heart, it's got to be CTTE.

Good poll Yarstruly, even if the result is likely to be pretty convincing. I agree entirely with the inclusion of ABWH, given that 80% of the CTTE Yes appear on it!

Close To The Edge gets my vote.It is the epitomy of what Progressive Rock is all about.Very long suite-like pieces, extraordinary musicianship, grandiose themes and lyrical mysticism.

Mind you: The Yes Album, Fragile, and Going For The One are sublime albums too!

Had to vote for CTTE also.  It's clearly their masterwork.  And You and I is my favorite Yes song of all time...

Close to the edge, yep, with Relayer as a close runner-up...

Easy Livin': think I have to read your review of Going For the One, if you have submitted anything though. Never really understood that album..

I voted 'Going for the one'

I tend to like selected Yes songs rather than whole albums. 'Going for the one' is the only album where I like all the tracks, although I guess I can take or leave the title track. Every now and then, Yes produce an excellent song which grabs me, but they've never made an entire album that has had thats bowled me over.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Very tough to answer, probably their most convincing and best produced album is Close to the edge, which has all Yes's trademarks in it, but I'll go for

   "The Yes Album".

It was the second album I bought of Yes (after 90125) and my first encouter with the "early" works of Yes, and I definetly like the guitar playing by Steve on this album, IMO the best he's ever produced.

I'm always almost unlucky _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Id5ZcnjXSZaSMFMC Id5LM2q2jfqz3YxT

Hi Hammar,

My reviews are under the name Bob McBeath. Looking at the review page, I see 88% of the ratings are 4 or 5 stars, nothing below 3 (so far). While I enjoy the whole album, it's"Awaken" which does it for me. That track just sounds better and better.

Close to the Edge without a doubt. I've heard it described like this: Fragile tells about faraway places, and Close to the Edge takes you there. (Well actually it was The Yes Album and Fragile, but the Fragile is to TYA as CTTE is to fragile)

1. Close to the Edge
2. Fragile
3. Going for the One
4. Relayer
5. Tales
6. The Yes Album

"Mister Fripp, your music is quite different than everything else out there. In one word, how would you describe it?"

"Progressive.... yeah, that's it..."

I know the songs from the Keys to Ascension collections, and I agree with you, Awaken is outstanding. But I think the entire Going For the One gets to soft for me...

I'm torn... I've alway rated CTTE and Relayer as being on the same level of brilliance. How can one choose between the two? *my head a splode*

I think I'll go for the underdog: despite the absence of good Mr Wakeman, Relayer gets my vote. This time.
