Just got word from Melo's Prog Bazaar that confirms that Hugh Hopper passed away today, followingg a year long battle with leukemia.

Damn shame.  Hopper was one of the primary reasons I rated Third a four.

Very sad - I was lucky enough to see him several times in the last few years and he was always a truly progressive musician who continued exploring new ideas until the end. His performances with Daevid Allen and Chris Cutler as Brainville were especially memorable; a splendid muscian and (by all accounts) a thoroughly nice man to boot.
'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

Sigh...terrible news. Really hoped a different outcome would have come out of his battle.

RIP Hugh...tonight Soft Machine/Hugh's solo work will be playing and be dedicated to Hugh (and hopefully he will be listening...)

Oh dear.  Cry

This is dreadful news.  Hugh was one of my favorites, I really, really enjoyed all of his work with Soft Machine as well as his solo work and other collaborative efforts.

Rest in Peace, Hugh, and I hope presently Soft Heap is playing a reunion gig.

This is terrible news which I fear would happen when I heard about his battle with Leukemia.  Hugh was one of my favourist bassists of all time.  A true inspiration.

He now joins Elton Dean, Alan Gowen and Pip Pyle in Canterbury Heaven.

I am upset now.

In pace, requiescat, Hugh Hopper.
