I think that that would be a very good idea.

Alice in Chains & Soundgarden might be 2 of my new favorite bands! Approve
Pearl Jam & Nirvana is also very good, and they have some fantastic songs, but they're not as interesting.

Meh.

Not really my thing. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are better than Nirvana and AIC though, in my opinion.

The 90's were good times. All 4 are very good bands.  Another band from that genre and era that I like quite a bit is The Screaming Trees.  Also, have you heard Temple of the Dog.  That might very well be my favorite grunge album.

I am one of those people who believe that PJ's Ten is way better than Nevermind - though I know Micky disagrees with me. Yield is one hell of a great album too.

Soundgarden are pretty progressive IMO. They tend to use odd time signatures and alternative tunings alot.
And AiC is also very interesting. They have a really tight, and almost psychedelic (at times) sound, kinda like Soundgarden.
Nirvana is generally a bit too noisy and "loose" for me. They have some fantastic songs, like "Smells like...", "Lithium", "Heart Shaped Box" & "Polly", but some songs are just too much punk-rock for me.

I'm with you on that one, after listening to "Ten" earlier today. Though i still love most songs on "Nevermind".

I'll agree there.

I used to like Pearl Jam somewhat, but I don't really anymore. I'd much rather listen to Ten than Nevermind though.

Yield and Ten are Pearl Jam's finest albums IMO. VS, Riot Act and Binaural are also very good.
Soundgarden has it's really good songs, but always skip songs from a album. Never liked Nirvana though. I only got Dirt by AIC, and really want to get more!

...on topic with Earthworks, I got A Part, Yet Apart which is excellent, and the previous or following one with a similar cover, it's also good, but not as great.

I'm listening to The Sound of Surprise right now.  It isn't bad, but you are right that it is not as good as A Part, and Yet Apart.

I love jazz and I love Bruford's drumming (in my top 3 drummers), so I have no idea why I haven't gotten any Earthworks yet. I need to do that.

I totally recommend you to get Alice in Chains self titled! It might be even better than "Dirt"! Big smile
"Facelift" is also great, but doesn't have any REALLY great songs.
And i love soundgardens really dark (thanks to the ridiculously low-tuned guitars) sound. And the fact that they use 7/8, 9/8, 11/4 and even 15/4 at times! Big smile
