Council and MEP (European parliaments) elections today.
I'm hoping the socialist coalition gets an MEP, since the bloke they've got standing as their first choice is superb and that'll keep ze BNP out.

I'm not going to vote.

All the parties (sp?) are sending in their hotshots, I have no trust in them representing me, as a citizen.
I'm, in fact, pretty disgusted by everything politics in my country. It's so pure BS, it makes me proud to be apolitical.

Real politics has nothing to do with parties, especially if you look at the etymology of the word. If you are 'apolitical', it means you are not interested in what happens around you, and deserve whatever comes your way. Believe me, we in Italy have lots of reasons to dislike political parties, but that doesn't mean we should wash our hands of the society we live in. And then, I'm afraid, political parties are nothing but the expression of the people who voted for them. Italians complain about bad politicians every second of the day, but they sure they don't do anything to set a better exampleDead.

Anyway, I won't be able to vote, even though now Italians abroad can vote. I applied for a change of official residence at the end of January, and haven't heard anything from the Italian Embassy since then. Moreover, it is likely that we cannot vote in these elections, while of course we can in the general ones.

Yes, I am not interested. Maybe I'll become more, once I'll be independent, but right now, as I have no political strong view, I'm fine where I am.

Political parties may be the expression of the people who voted in my country, but it's more than partially because many are still  manipulated, getting lots of promises out of which an outrageous number are forgotten, not to mention that we have lots of folks that don't even know what they're voting for. It was today that I saw on the news how only 1 of 10 people actually knew what they're voting for on this Sunday (that's when the elections are taking place here).

Everything, from stupid campaining to the half of the people proposed for the election being inadequate, just feels wrong. When it comes to elections, generally, they're mostly the same (the great exceptions don't get in the high seats they merit), they're corrupt, and they're hypocrites, and I can't vote for that.

Rico, I was not accusing you of anything - just commenting on a stance I have seen far too often, both in Italy and here in the US. However, the situation of your country is certainly different (I know a bit of history, you knowWink), and I can understand your being disgusted. I was so disgusted by Italy that I left it, even if my position there was not bad by any means. Anyway, this is a very delicate, difficult topic, and I'd rather not tackle it here and now.

I voted for SLP in the Euros.  I didn't have to vote in the Councils.

Henry, I'm disappointed in you.  Really, I am.

I saw an episode of Law & Order today.  It was plain awful.

The first minute I noticed the guy who had apparently committed suicide, was left handed.  Plus the the way it is filmed is weird.  Sort of in a documentary style.  Plus it looks very retro in terms of titles.

I have a feeling it was the one you were talking about the other day.  It was about some gay guy who got murdered and some weird anti-gay modern Church which happened to have a gay guy in who was married to a woman and did anti-gay sermons.  Nobody knew he was gay.

That's such a terrible storyline!

That wasn't the one I was talking about and doesn't sound like any episode I've seen. What version of Law and Order was it? I only watch Special Victims Unit, I've never gotten around to watching the original because what I've seen hasn't grabbed me, and Criminal Intent is too convoluted for me to follow. And I admit, even some of the SVU ones are terrible with regards to the plot holes and writing. This one is about Grand Theft Auto and it's getting so many things wrong it hurts.

I think it's supposed to look like a documentary.

It's just called Law & Order and has a woman leading the investigations.

I also saw Bones.  Have you seen that yet? LOL
