I still can't get into PoS, but Dweezil Zappa is a seriously f**king good guitarist.
There is a youtube video of him trading solos with Steve Vai and goddamn Dweezil has some serious style and chops with a heck of a load of substance to boot going on. I honestly never liked Frank Zappa's soloing, it always sounded "static" and cold to me, but Dweezil's soloing is actually really fantastic.

Beardfish is okay, but never struck me as a band I would go out and bother getting an album of. For me I'd be going for Dream Theater and maybe Zappa Plays Zappa. The previous years set list was just glorious though, they really should have just done that again.

They should just play Glass Prison like, 5 times in row. That would be good enough for me. Those arpeggios that Petrucci alternate picks, HOLY CRAP! As if you wouldn't want to see that 5 times in a row.

Yeah, but you don't like thrash metal Itsy, half that song is thrash metal. I've had every PoS recommended to me to try and honestly none of them did it for me, not even the ones I was told were the peak of their career. Daniel Gildenlow (IIRC how to spell it) seems to be turning into a parody of himself it seems. I'm reading on just about every forum where prog metal is discussed the dude used to be chill, but he's a joke now.

Oh he does indeed seem a joke now.  Hence why I've not listened to their music since I heard Scarsick.

Scar Sick was particularly bad. I want those minutes of my life back after hearing that. Even Octavarium by Dream Theater was better than that sadly.
Also, listening to music with studio monitors is gloriously good.

Scarsick booklet with the shirtless muscle poses is pretty hilarious.

I've not seen the booklet. LOL

I have seen photos of shirtless PoS though, so I presume it's that.  Horrid.  Almost as bad as the Love Beach cover.

I was shown a really amusing He-Man piss-take earlier and now I cannot find it on Youtube.  There's lots of them on there but the one I'm after isn't called He-Man but something else.  Apparently it's on a Cable Channel over here, so it's not an amateur affair.

Still, if it's just slammed under the guitars, sometimes, that'd explain it. Anyway, I'll try your suggested thing if I can work out how to get that to work.

But it isn't under mixed though.
I have studio monitors, which are designed to be as flat as possible across the frequency range and listening through them reveal that if there was any more bass, it would sound muddy. It cannot possibly be undermixed if it would sound muddy if more bass were added.

Maybe, but I'm bigoted against metal. Also ignorant.

Big smileLOL

A new prog quiz would really offer me a healthy 5 minutes break from learning folk. Cry

Good morning, Rico! I was just thinking about you.... Responded to your post in the Melomaniac thread, asking you if you knew anything about your fellow Romanian who disappeared into thin air about two years ago...

Hi Raff.

His disappearence was clearly a full shut down of activity, we never quite talked in-depth about what really made him take that decision all of a sudden, but it seems it was self-imposed, life & work beating the prog pleasures or something like that, and I do know that, since then, he's turned from a, let's say, trubadeur into an artistic director to a pretty noteworthy events-organizing institution.

I still talk with him occasionally, we're both members of a Romanian prog rock forum.
