That's a good situation to be in; NOBODY has good middle relief, as good middle relievers end up being used in useful roles like starting and closing.  Besides, if you did have a stellar middle reliever, Torre would just end up pitching him every freaking day until his arm fell off like he did to countless pitchers in New York.

What was that loud sound whipping through Comerica Park last night?  You got it, it was the D-Train chugging through the Texas Rangers line-up to the tune of a 1 hit shutout through 6 1/3 innings.  After giving up a double and walk in the first inning he retired the next 17 hitters before walking the last guy that he faced.  I have been thoroughly disappointed with him up until last night's start.  I hope that this is a sign of good things to come from him and not just one good start amongst a sea of walks.

The Cubs are making the Cards look like World Champs. The Buccos are looking to sweep the Nats. I'll take it.

Damn, those Yanks are getting hot!
They keep having these 4,5 run innings that remind me of a few years back. Pitching has been decent enough so far and improving.

^ Sucks to hear.
Hope Joba is OK got hit with a ball and was taken out after 2/3 of an inning. Though I must say the bullpen did well for those 8 and a third. Not to mention those 6 runs...

Interleague play starts today and the Tigers get to open with the Colorado Rockies.  Tigs are on a 6 game win streak and the Rockies are pretty bad this year so hopefully they can make it a 9 game winning streak.

Two runs scored over 27 innings. What the "F" happened to the Cubs?!

I had a Todd Jones flashback last night.  The Tigers led 4 to 1 over the Rockies in the 9th inning and they brought in Joel Zumaya to close the game since Fernando Rodney had pitched in the last 3 games.  Zoom Zoom proceeded to walk a guy and give up a home run to make it 4 to 3, and then there were guys on first and third with 2 outs, when he struck out the final batter to end the game. He got the job done but not without the unnecessary added stress.

They got shutout last night as well...2 runs in the last 36 innings. And Harden just joined Ramirez on the DL. It is frustrating since they won every game last week and now cannot muster a run. When the scores are 3-0, 2-1, 3-1, 4-0, the starter pitchers can't do much else....Baseball Embarrassed

Thankfully it didn't end like that. Freddy went 6 for 6. Check his bat for some cork.

The Tigers absolutely clobbered E-Dub's Royals yesterday 13-1.  With Greinke on the mound tonight for the Royals, I am seriously thinking that the Tigers should have saved some of those runs. Maybe it is a good time to implement the cumulated runs rules like they have in soccer aka football in the rest of the world.
