According to this page the oxide film that normally protects aluminum from corrosion would not function inside a coke can due to pH and lack of oxygen. So, if coke were really that strong, then it would toast the can too.

AWESOME FIZZY DRINK FACT:
There's a line in The Kinks Lola that uses the phrase "tastes just like cherry-cola - la la la la la Lo-la"
It was originally to have said "Co*a Col*" but apparently the Corporation took out an injunction to prevent the band from quoting their product in what they probably thought to have been a 'dubious' song.
