You have to remember I do like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Duster Bennett, early Fleetwood Mac, Keef Hartley Band and of course, The Allman Brothers' Band and Gov't Mule.

Oh yes Kings of Time is fantastic. I think I might prefer Random Avenger though. Don't know why, but I listen to it way more often.

My favourite Finnish band is probably Nightwish...

err Hidria Spacefolk. Symmetria was in my top 3 2008, and it rocked my soul.

Ugh I've seen Hidria live twice and they were horrible. The music is fine, but they're not a very good live band.

Keef Hartley Band rocks my world actually.  British Rock and Jazz of the Brass variety.  Mmmm.

I've seen Nightwish and the even more dire erm... gosh, they're so dire I've forgotten their name. LOL

I like it a lot as well, but it bothers me a bit how five of the seven songs begin with a kind of similarish pattern which they then start to build upon. They take the songs to wonderful places, but the starting point is always the same. Kings of Time has more variation I think, and it has some emotional value since it was my first MP album and I remember one dark night walking the empty streets of my then hometown Kuopio listening to that album waiting for their gig to begin. You've lived in Kuopio? Shocked I lived there for 15 years. Oh and when was this gig? I might have been there. LOL

I really liked them when they opened for Porcupine Tree in the Helsinki Ice Hall. Later I bought Symetria and it's a very good album.

I lost interest in Nightwish after Once, it was a bit of a let down even though there were at least five killer songs. I had been listening to them since the first album, and Century Child was one of my favourite albums at the time of its release.

Is your surname really Turonen?

I'm guessing that's a common Finnish surname?

You've double-posted, James, and I caught that before you corrected it.

I like Hidria Spacefolk's free EP.  I didn't like Symmetria as much, to be honest.

And the live stuff I've heard by them is great.  I guess you saw too bad gigs by them.

Hmm, I'd say 2004/2005 in Wanha Satama perhaps? Ermm Kings of Time had been released a while earlier. Where in Kuopio did you live? I spent my first 20 years in Petonen Smile

I saw them in Henry's Pub in 2007 I think. I lived in Puijonlaakso, Julkula, Neulamäki and the last few years in Saaristokaupunki right next to Petonen. Haha. Every summer in Vancouver though...

I'm gonna trail back until I reach the EP, but as far as I'm concerned, Symmetria was very good.
