Hmmm... I don't know. I think Anesthetize as a whole is a completely different musical beast than any of Radiohead.

The keyboards though, I can see how you thought of that. I don't agree that they're similar, but if anything is remotely close---it would be that. Because the drums aren't close at all, neither is the style, and I wouldn't say Wilson sounds similar to Yorke at all either.

Actually, his voice did remind of Yorke a little.

The song now sounds nothing like it did at the beginning.  It was just that intro.

My Ashes and the title track I can remember, but I don't actually like either of them.

It's sort of how I'm feeling about it myself.

It's a vast improvement on Deadwing though.

I find Wilson's voice irritating and his lyrics aren't that fabulous either.  I much prefer the music but even that doesn't interest me as much as I would like it to.

I'm not too big on the lyrics either, but I never pay attention to lyrics with Porcupine Tree; they're irrelevant to me.

I can see how you wouldn't like it, but I thought it was pretty good. Not sure if it was my favorite though, but Anesthetize is definitely their best track IMO.

It also doesn't help that it sounds like he's singing down a muted megafone. LOL

I like some of their earlier stuff. I can't think of many albums where nothing stands out, though... might give it a review one of these days.

Oh it stands out more than Zeit does.  I cannot remember a single note of Zeit.  It just went on and on like Ariston.

And how a non-prog album can be best prog album of 2007 on P.A. makes me moist.

Those are objective statements though.

I'm trying to show you that it can't be objectively quantified.

mm. I wouldn't care about the lyrics if he wasn't obviously stressing them so much, same thing with Scenes From A Memory Metropolis - lyrics only matter to me much if they're good (e.g. Bob Dylan) or they really are trying to be important, and in that case I think you need to sympathise with Wilson's old man grumblings to appreciate the non-emphatic nature of the music.

I just can't remember anything happening in that album. Maybe I'll have to give it a few more listens.

It's quite simple.

A bunch of relatively clueless n00bs vote for something that's popular and not-prog because they cannot listen to anything that actually is prog and better.

Are you saying Opeth isn't prog?

Edit: Well 2007 was PT, and I know you can't stand SW, but c'mon. Don't give us this bullsh*t again.

Yeah, that's understandable. Maybe it'll grow on you, but if it doesn't---I wouldn't be surprised.
