I haven't gotten into PT. How are they in relation to Rush? This is coming from a lukewarm casual rush fan, at best. (I can only hope my head fits on that pike rather nicely...)

SR is a safe place, you can hate lots of popular music here. This is after all the home of James and I.
PT are sort of like Rush if Rush tried to make whiny alt-rock and hired a new singer.

Rico you once said that you read 200 pages a day. How many words per minute can you read?
I don't know how many exactly, it fully depends on how's the book and how's it flowing when reading. I guess I can read a page per minute, but doesn't say much, given that it can be a page with 20 lines up to 40.

Well, I guess PT aren't for me. What about Mars Volta, then?
I have a sort of predisposed dislike for heavy prog. Mainly because I absolutely f**king hate hard rock.
I'm with you on that. Listen to the song that's on here, and if you like it, you'll probably like Deloused and/or Frances. Frances and Amp rock much less than Deloused.

Actually, the main reason I dislike hard rock, is because most of it
trades its soul away for speed, power, fury, etc. when that power never
impresses me.
Take Deep Purple. For example, take Highway Star. The lyrics? "nobody's
gonna take my car, im gonna drive it off a cliff" or what have you. I
can't get into those at all. Then all that "ass kicking rocking" they
do feels so weak and tame to me. I suppose I dislike hard rock because
it is too soft for me.
