My first TD album was Phaedra, so I had a pretty good start, haha. I agree; Exit is pretty good for what it is. No, I don't. That's probably a good thing. |

Yeah, from their third album until Tormato, very few of Yes's songs were pop-structured. "Long Distance Runaround" was, and so was "Wonderous Stories," but for the most part, there was almost nothing "pop" about Yes during it's classic period.

It's not bad. Seriously heavy riffing, but totally off-base given that it's in a TD soundtrack (Froese's more delicate with his axe on such occasions). |

Oh, okay. Dang, I guess that would be interesting to hear. Oh well. My version only has the 8 tracks. |

Because they found out today that missing from more than 50% of some courses (which were declared optional at first) will deny their access to examns. And more than 50% of the students from year I didn't bother much at all with school. |

I don't think so. They certainly are more complex than what would constitute an extended pop song (with an AABA-AABA structure). They're not structured avant, but they're definitely not structured pop. I'd actually say Yes's compositions are one of the most representative examples of artistic rock, or what we call prog rock. All (or nearly all) of the characteristics that categorize prog are present in Yes's tracks on a musical level, whereas they aren't near as much in Dire Straits. The musicianship and music theory in Yes is also a higher level, and what they decide to do within the confines of rock---that's what makes it different. |

Nice. I doubt I'll ever beat your TD fanboyism, but mine's getting dangerously high. |

They changed it because of the first semester, when the exam results were catastrophical in many student's case. The same students just didn't pay attention to the warning regarding the new rule, and did the same thing they did months ago: nothing. |

Well, actually I've got one of the songs up here: http://maihinnousu.net/a/?artist_id=815 It's the most straightforward thing coming on the ep, acting as a somewhat sane interlude. It's the third, longest one of those titles (the first two are old rock tracks I recorded with a drum machine, messed up first improv takes in the second one) and it originally came about when I had a "record a song during one weekend without using any old ideas" challenge with a friend about six months ago. I've liked listening to it so much that I'm probably putting it on the ep. It's pretty sh*tty rhythmically and the drums are mono, so I'm going to have to record it again. Sorry about the Finnish site, just press the play symbol or lataa (download)

You'll overload yourself too much to manage to beat me. Already a Henry Cow, Rush, Dr. Dre and Animal Collective fanboy. Too much for the brain and the heart. |

Dr. Dre? Henry Cow and Rush though for sure. I'm not entirely sure if I'm an Animal Collective fanboy, but I'm getting there too. I'm nearly positive I like TD more than AC, even though I love MPP to death. |

Well that's a bit different - if they mandated attendance between semesters, saying "From this point forward you need to attend at least half the classes" - then the students have only themselves to blame. I was going off something that a professor I had tried to pull - mid-semester, all of a sudden trying to claim that attendance would factor into the grade, when at the beginning of the course there was no such claim. In fact I barely showed up and he wanted to fail me, even though I was getting passing grades on all the exams and problem sets. Me and a couple of other guys just went to his office and called bullsh*t, and he relented, realizing we would just make his life a hell if he went through with it. |

Very fine thank you very much Back from work, relaxing with some DS (though the drum kit looks at me temptingly...), I'm going to have some delicious falafel goodies today. I almost bought Piirpauke's second album last weekend, but ended up putting it back. Probably will some day quite soon...
