I can't understand how anyone would not find Peart's lyrics incredibly realistic, touching, and genius in commentary, if we're just going from the inside of our own minds. But you have to get that everyone has had a completely different experience in life. Everyone has a different personality, and people make decisions. Each individual has his or her own grand system of values that is completely unique and does not match anyone else's (in the true self anyway, so long as it isn't hidden by any masks). And that is why Hammill's lyrics come across as nonsense to me and why Peart's to you, and why I absolutely love Peart's lyrics and you absolutely love Hammill's. We have completely different values and beliefs in terms of what an ideal society would be like, what life is all about, and perspectives about occurrences all around us. To be honest, I'm not sure why. Have you tried the Force Majeure title track? |

I will once again attempt to have Plague resonate with me. This first side is just superb, though. |

I used to be (still is to some extent) a big fan of especially Gamma Ray and Edguy. Try some, but promise to listen to the whole songs if you do The Piper Never Dies The Pharaoh |

Erm, I've never said I disliked Peart's lyric writing. I've not really paid enough attention to them to warrant an opinion.
I'm just not keen on the music, or Geddy Lee's vocals. Peart's lyrics aren't bad at all. They're better than those by Dream Theater and they make more sense than Jon Anderson's. Edited by James - May 11 2009 at 15:22 |

You mean the Open Mind Index/Rating system? Yeah, I think it's pretty neat. It is mostly accurate, except when it comes to extremely broad "genres"/labels like Progressive Rock/Music where you can have Yes, Mr. Bungle, and Henry Cow being tagged as the same label. |

I've got plenty. We had a brunch for Mother's Day yesterday. My wife's family doesn't do dry events. |

You completely missed the big picture I was trying to communicate with you because you nitpicked my examples. The details of the examples are irrelevant. |

You used Peart as an example and claimed I disliked his lyrics. So it's not my fault.

No one in my wife's family drinks. It's a big no-no. Except her uncle, who is in and out of jail. |

Peart is a lot better when he's pretty straight-forward and non-politic. I like his robust style, as long as he isn't preachy.

It baffles me how you're wife accepts your supposedly daily lean towards alcohol.

I don't think she does accept it, Rico.
I wouldn't if I was his wife. |

As long as it isn't a lot/day and coupled to an active lifestyle, it's actually just good for you.
Alcohol, that is. |
