Roblov,
nice review.
Listening to it now.
Actually the best Hammill solo I've heard so far. Beats most VdGG.

And given you're not married, that's saying something!

All I know of PG solo is dancing to "In Your Eyes" in high school.

I really respect their musicianship as individuals and as a unit, and their compositions are really clever, but so far the 80s Crimso hasn't really connected with me the way the earlier lineups. I miss the beauty they had earlier, there are pretty things like Matte Kudasai, but to me it's just a pretty little thing, it doesn't reach me emotionally. I think the earlier Crimso was more diverse in their feel and sound, but it may just be that I'm not familiar enough with the later era to really see all there is Yet.

That's funny you say that... Because I really like earlier Crimson, but my feelings are just the opposite of yours. When Belew comes into the fold, then that's when the immense amounts of emotion and creativity come into play for me. My favorite earlier album though is Larks, and while that is 5 stars, it still just isn't the same to later Crimson for me. One of my favorite Crimson albums is the ProjeKcts boxset. It's a shame that more people aren't made aware of that.

Mine's still good, I think. Only 200 plays behind yours. He's not my favorite artist ever for sure, but I do like him alot. I used to listen to him much more than I have in the past year or so though.

Three of a Perfect Pair is probably my favorite of the 80's Crimson. That was also one of my first introductions to them.

Great album. I'm a Belew fanboy, especially with Crimson, so on a strictly personal level I'd give Discipline, Beat, and TOAPP all 5 stars (though Discipline is easily my favorite). For PA though, I'd still give Beat and TOAPP 4 stars.
