James, your playlist has inspired me again.  Definitely need to hear Guapo today.

Yes yes.  Do so.

You need to give Elixirs more love.

It's better than you think it is but not as good as Black Oni.

Today is the first day of my wife having to take care of kids at her mother's house thanks to the unkind people downstairs (who bang on the ceiling when we're even having dinner and not even talking).

Oh poo.

I lied.

It wasn't TouchMaPhal I hated so much.

It was I Want the Sun to Shine.

Listening to Phallus Dei on Spotify.

Yeah, Elixirs needs some more plays.  I'm sure something will click one of these days.

Rob:  does your wife run a small daycare or something?

Jeweled Turtle, Arthur, Elsie and Frances and King Lindorm are great.  I'm not so keen on the two Twisted Stems and I cannot remember what The Planks is like.

Phallus Dei didn't do much for me.  I try so hard with Krautrock, but it just won't take.

Love Wolf City from ADII though, that is a great album.  Probably my favorite kraut album.

I had the same problem. Stop trying, give it a long break, then return to it after a while and see if your opinion's changed.

Krautrock never attracted me much either, but I didn't listen to Can for a long time, and I just started listening to them this past week and it blew me away. Clap

But now that means I have to get other stuff. Ouch

Why is Krautrock so full of self-indulgent twaddle?

Confused

You just described prog. What's wrong with being self-indulgent?

Prog isn't self-indulgent in the same regard as Krautrock and stuff like The Doors.  I think it's also due to it being Kosmische.

I like some self-indulgent music but it has to be done right.

I do have the house to myself...that means I'll be able to record when the mood strikes me...

I don't like the Doors, but I love Can. I don't think there's an upper-cap on how self-indulgent something can be unless it's ridiculous in concept---and I suppose what defines that is entirely subjective to each person. Nonetheless, I'd rather have people who are making music entirely for themselves rather than machines spouting out the same garbage that has been spoonfed to people for decades.

I misread the new thread title as the bedroom strikes back.

Everytime I see Still the Waters, I think of the Ark track Heal the Waters.  I think Rob should get Jorn Lande to sing on his next album.

Well, I need something to go off of... and I gave you those two drum samples.

I would compose for it, but I'm pretty sure you said you didn't want to have to work around extensive drum skeletons.

I have no idea who or what any of that is.

I'm going to the bank and the store now.  Be back in an hour.
