You know, Pekka, I was thinking about you earlier today. At the Finnish Embassy here in DC there is an exhibition called MyHelsinki, about the experiences of a group of 12 Washingtonians in your capital city. I think Micky and I will go to see it before the end of the month, even if it is bound to make me sad... I haven't been back to Finland in exactly 7 years, and I doubt I ever will. It's a long story, and I don't want to bore you with it, though.

It rained very hard all night, and it's raining again now... I slipped on the mud a couple of times this morning (wearing trainers, not fancy shoes), but thanks to my good sense of balance I did not fall. The worst thing is that's warm and humid, a kind of weather that really gets me down. Hopefully it seems next week things will be getting a bit better.

Gets a point, though, for seeing Richard and Ben speechless for the first time in the whole show.

Which is entirely true. I also said it was mostly too simplistic for my tastes in a way that kept it from being mindblowing. I think I've heard Alex say the term "mindblowing" or "blow my mind" or "blew me away" (or something that effect) about 12 times this week.  Anyway, I think "art rock" is a dated and all but useless term.  Many of the songs are in fact pop structures, but I'm perfectly fine with that (much of Echolyn's music involves pop structures). But Hazards of Love is a concept album, and a story- many of the songs flow almost as one seamless composition, and many of the parts are revisited in an appealing way (just as The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway does, albeit with fewer variations). What's more, the lyrics are unimpeachable (and let's be honest, it's hard to find good prog lyricists anymore- I find myself holding my head in shame at much of the words many artists have written).

You know my thoughts on lyrics though---if the music doesn't keep me enthralled and the lyrics don't particularly stand out to me, then they're useless.

There are some exceptions. However, with Hazards of Love, I didn't particularly care to pay attention to the lyrics... and the music didn't keep my attention part of the time either.

It was decent, but it felt too long to me. It would actually be really good if they had cut alot of the stuff, I think. But I'll give it another spin.
