Topic: Brett Favre Posted: May 06 2009 at 20:04 |
Come on, someone had to bring it up. I think Gene Wojciechowski at ESPN.com put it best: "I don't know whether the 39-year-old Favre has another season in him, but I'd like to find out. Because for all the Favre-related complaining and eye-rolling by his critics and skeptics, the NFL is more interesting with him than without him."

Brett Favre should have retired a Packer. ESPN was on the money last offseason when they compared him to Cher's perpetual farewell tours, though I think Brett is slightly more of a diva than Cher. He was the biggest baby football had ever seen last year, and then he followed it up by leading the league in picks. I don't think he's even an upgrade over Tarvaris Jackson, and I think as lowly of Tarvaris Jackson as anybody.
Frankly, I was absolutely sick of Favre starting about a week into his antics last offseason, and I'm not sure I can take this childish "I'm retired!" "I'm not retired!" "I'm retired!" "I'm not retired!" "I'll retire for 40 million bucks!" bullsh*t again.

All of this just to stick to Ted Thompson, Green Bay and the Packer organization. I listen to a radio station out of Milwaukee every morning, and the once gleeful Favre fans cannot hear his name without calling him a 'douche bag'. Last year he was so concerned about how the Packers have treated his legacy, when he's the sole reason why his name is a four letter word in all of Wisconsin. He may go into the Hall of Fame as a Packer, but they're pretty upset up there...and he'll never be allowed into the ring of fame.
And the guy really is a douche bag.

It was bad enough last year. Now this is turning into a sick joke. He should stay retired.

I almost puked when I saw that picture, as a die hard packer fan and favre fan I rooted for him last year. I always loved favre and I tried to be understanding of him last year, but hes basically showing he does not care one tiny bit about his fans.

This, exactly.
Favre was a legend at Green Bay, and was the ultimate idol of the Packers fans (me included). Does he not realise that this is just spoiling it all? A year in New York was bad enough. He should have retired the season before last. Losing a Championship Game isn't exactly going out at the top, but it's pretty close.
