Hemispheres isn't better than last time I heard it, but it's still a low 3.

I know. Recall all of those original power ballads? Each one was a nugget unto itself. What with their anthem choruses that are all different in major ways, how they all go from soft to hard in a completely surprising manner, and each and every mid tempo solo that DOESN'T rip off David Gilmour in any way are all absolute bursts of originality and artistic inspiration. I dare say that Nikki Sixx had more artistic merit in his eyelashes than the entire post 1989 musical(ha, if you can even call it that!) movement combined. |

Quite the same reasons why I love the hair metal genre. I believe Nikki Sixx's creativity stemmed from using lots of drugs, because as hair metal proved, the more drugs you use, the better the quality of your music.

Maybe that is why The Rolling Stones were such a bloody brilliant band. I mean, rock against drugs? The hell! That goes against the rock code. Because nothing shouts originality better than conforming blindly to a generic code.
I feel I am all out of cynicism this morn and shall retire to my bed chambers. Perhaps we can ridicule beliefs together another time. |

On the plus side, it's a pretty decent flagellation aid if you facepalm everytime you hear a disastrously tacky line Edited by TGM: Orb - May 04 2009 at 11:27 |

I listened to Discipline today, and it worked quite nicely Still not nearly as well as anything that came before, but it's getting better...

I assume that you mean King Crimson's Discipline, and not the band Discipline. I would much rather listen to the band Discipline; although King Crimson's Discipline isn't all that bad.

Have you listened to The Satanic Majesties Request? That album is pretty much drenched in LSD, psychedelic mushrooms, and marijuana. It's also my favorite by them (so far, I only have a few albums by them). |

King Crimson's indeed. I heard the band Discipline on some "prog night" type of program on some radio channel about a year ago and thought about getting to know them better, but I've completely forgotten about it. I'll see if they're on Spotify...

Hmm, there is a Discipline there, but I bet we're not talking about a band with songs like Hail Hail Rock n' Roll, When I'm Dancing I Ain't Fighting and f**k You Anyway?

Nope I don't believe that those songs are in the Prog Discipline's repertoire.
Here is a link to their MySpace page. http://www.myspace.com/discipline1 They don't seem to have any streaming music on it, but they do have video of them playing their newest song Rogue, which will hopefully show up on an album this year.
