I watched Gabriel's Growing Up DVD this weekend, and it is quite enjoyable.  The music is good, and he does a lot of things on stage to entertain the crowd.  His daughter sings with him also.  And of course he has a pretty decent bass player playing with him.

Tony Levin ftw.

I wonder if I should get that DVD.

I found it to be quite enjoyable.  He didn't dress up as a flower, but he did provide much in visual perfomances to go along with the music.  My apologies to any folically challenged amongst us, but it was kind of funny that Peter, Tony, the guitarist, and the drummer were all bald.  Peter made a couple of jokes about that when introducing the band members and how they started playing together back when they had hair.

Tony Levin never had hair.
According to Peter, when he met Tony, they both had hair.

Maybe, I'm mostly kidding. But I saw really old pics of Levin and he already was bald (or shaven) back then.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

Yeah, I think so too.

It is the boomerang effect that they are worried about.  This fall/winter, that strain may return much more virulent, which is what happened in 1918.

I'm just taking the same precautions I try to take every day, only being possibly a bit more cautious. I think even if it becomes a bigger problem, there's no use in freaking out about it. There's being safe and aware, and then there's just exacerbating an issue.

I'm sick of the media making everything seem 1,000 times worse than it really is, AND running the same stories throughout the entirety of every day for like weeks. It's one reason I don't like to watch the news too much; it gets grotesque.
Dead

Amen to that.  The other irony about this flu is that the young and healthy are just as affected.  It is not the virus itself that kills but the person immune over-reaction to it.

But the media....I don't know where to start.

Yeah, it's probably better if I stop there with regards to the media. LOL

What do you have against Kate Bush Alex?

I'm curious.

Welcome back.

Honestly, I don't have anything against her other than the fact that her voice doesn't really do anything for me. Admittedly, I'm not that knowledgeable of her besides the song with Gabriel and Hounds of Love, which is why I want to hear more eventually.

She's worth checking out.

She has plenty of good material, I personnally find her voice lovely and she was hot back in the days. Wink

I'll give it another shot.

I don't find her hot though. Tongue

And female voices are usually hit or miss with me, more so than male voices anyway. Not sure why, but they tend to warrant more extreme/polarized reactions in general.

That is actually why I like the news so much. It is like free theater. Vaudeville to the extreme.

Haha, I can see that. I guess it's just the fact that people aren't acting combined with the fact that I'm not huge into theater/movies in general that doesn't thrill me.

I'm going to go eat dinner now. I'll be back soon though; I'm relaxing for the rest of the day today because I know that starting tomorrow and ending next Friday I'll be studying like hell.

Well, at least he saved money over all those years of his life not having haircuts. LOL

Tony Levin is prog's favorite bald guy. Discuss. Big smile

You do realise there are two musicians called Tony Levin and both are sort of linked to prog.

Tony Levin - bassist/Chapman Stick-ist
Tony Levin - jazz drummer (has played with members of the Canterbury Scene, as has Fripp, of course)

I had a really intense exam yesterday. I had a headache when it ended. It was my japanese finals. It was so long and completely in japanese so I had to concentrate hard throughout.

Plus, I had to talk with the teacher for about 10 minutes afterwards. It felt like a foreign sounds sonic attack to my brain. It went good but it was hard.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

Math finals are the hardest.
I have to take a math class in the summer because I got a D That also ruined my chances to go to UC Santa Barbara, so I'm going to UC Riverside instead.
I hate math.
