A poppier Smashing Pumpkins. Very enjoyable CD, it features Paz Lenchantin (A perfect circle) on bass.

A compilation of songs composed by this uruguayan soul/jazz band. Highly recommended for fans of Booker T & the MG's
"Magma was the very first gothic rock band" (Didier Lockwood)

Thumbs Up

Arrived.

And @ Pat: Avanti! is interesting. Its much denser than Parade and other recent works for Miriodor. It actually reminds me a bit more of their early material, which less quirky/overtly fun sections that Miriodor are known for. Tracks are also much longer, which also somewhat harkens back to their earlier days. Also less saxophone/exotic instruments, which I don't think of as a plus. Now thinking about it, perhaps its more Avanty with its various electronic sounds, wall-of-sound mentallity, and decreased amount of well definied (of tyipical Miriodor) hooks.

All in all its actually a bit of a difficult listen, which is not something I would say of Miridor up until this point. Definitely requires multiple listens, as I feel I'll enjoy it more being I know what I'm expecting this time. Probably about a 3 after listen one.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

cover art

I have tracked it down for a good price. I have been waiting at least 5 years for one of these to turn up. It is on the original Fania label issues and not the new remastered ones that have been being issued since the label was sold a few years ago. They have not issued it anyway since the label changed hands and what is annoying for me is they seem to mainly reissue the main albums like the Willie Colons and the Barretto albums and the little gems that I want have not been reissued. I also am hoping that they reissue Mark Dimonds ( Beethoven's 5th) but till then maybe one day one of the original issues will turn up for a decent price anyway its a Boogaloo album and Ray Ramirez produced it I suspect and if that is the case even better.

And of course  His Bobness

Together Through Life (Deluxe Edition)

Also when I went to get the Bob I found that this was available locally and grabbed one..... Good Stuff more West African music.  Can't walk out with just 1 cd, its like leaving a wino in the wine bar, can't help myself Wink

Seya

I got that as a kid when it came out - it sounded like it was recorded in a Coca Cola can and as much as I love KC I've never bothered to replace it since I sold it for one whole quid (£1) in 1980.

If it sounds any better these days, please let me knowWink
