Isis and Pelican playing in downtown austin on may 19th...
Opeth and Enslaved are playing are playing the same night in san Antonio.
Of course I'm going to the Isis and Pelican concert, that WILL kick so much ass, besides I missed Pelican the last time they were around because of junior nationals. Still Opeth and enslaved are no bands to pass up lightly.

Gah, the two bands that made me love post metal. I'm going to blow my brains out with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Really into Flying Saucer Attack and Tortoise lately. Early 90's post-rock is top-tier!

It seems we'll be seeing them within a week of each other. Be sure to try and remember the setlist I wanna know what i'm in for. It's crazy to think that the venue i'm seeing them at is only charging 14 bucks. (practically free) So, on a side note, it will be interesting to see how a buddy of mine responds to the show. (he's never heard either band) I don't think he's ever even listened to prog in general, but he confided in me that he trusts my "musical taste" because of all the "interesting" music he hears me listening to.

I actually had a chance to see Isis a couple years ago that got botched, so i earned this one Don't worry though, i wasn't too impressed by Isis's live DVD; the show can't be that good

As much as I love Isis, it's Pelican thats gonna blow us away! Have you seen any of their live stuff? They're insane, my neck is gonna be so sore after the show.
Did you check out tombs? I was not too impressed, so we'll just have to see how they pull it off live?

I remember dling a but bootleg one time and it was underwhelming to say the least, but i'm pretty sure the quality of the recording had plenty to do with it. I suppose i could check out some live footage on youtube; yet i'm sure the quality will kinda suck. If you have any recommendations of what to check out, i'd be grateful for them

Have you ever seen them live before? Honestly, I've seen them twice (though this was about 3 years ago), and both times their opening band was way better than they were. Granted, the openers were Mono and Russian Circles, but they both blew Pelican out of the water.

I haven't been back here in a while and you all may have already discussed them but has anyone heard the new album by And So I Watch You From Afar? I really like them.
Also, just picked up Mono's new album Hymn To The Immortal Wind. Wonderful album.

Well TGS has got that whole two discs that sync thing going for it, and the production is a bit better, but I think the music on both discs is fantastic.

Also on an unrelated note, Agalloch's song Our fortress is burning part two is one of the most pissed off and blood boiling songs I've yet to hear.

You can replace those that with any Agalloch song. That band is seriously too good .

Speaking of bands that are too good, how about Converge? I want to listen to them every day lately. This doesn't belong here at all but they are darn good. Any of my post-rock d00ds into them?

I'm not too familiar with Converge, I heard a little bit of their stuff, it's made me curious enough to get some of their albums now.
