In the last few weeks I spent a *lot* of time linking the albums in my database to Amazon, CDBaby and eMusic. The database is quite extensive, and it contains most albums of the PA database. I decided to process all the albums chronologically ... and to my surprise I found that many albums from the classic prog era (circa 1969-1975) are available at eMusic.

So I decided, as a little Easter surprise of sorts, to make a few pages which list albums available on eMusic by year:

http://progfreak.com/go/home/music.xhtml?path=albums/emusic/by_year/1972
BTW: I'm currently processing albums from 1975 and onward ... feel free to navigate to any year, but keep in mind that for the years between 1975 and 2006 I've not yet examined all the albums. As of today, I've about 10,000 studio albums to process ... expect this to be done about 2-3 months from now.Embarrassed

Have a look if you're interested! Of course I would be glad if you rated and tagged some of those albums at PF, but don't feel like you have to.

I hope these lists are of use to someone ... most of these albums have long been out of print, and some people might be surprised to see that they're only a click away, so to speak.Smile

No help at all? I already have many of the albums that already have high ratings at PF, I would be glad for any recommendation!

Sorry Mike, people who like vintage prog tend to still be attached to silly pieces of plastic. ;-)

Do you have Arachnoid?
if you own a sodastream i hate you

^ why prefer plastic over downloads ... both are artificial, and so is vinyl. Wink

What made you mention Arachnoid ... it wasn't even in the list? Interestingly, I looked it up again at eMusic.com and found it by searching for the artist name. Sometimes it's not easy to find albums in online stores ... the release year is often not entered correctly, or there are several entries for the artist, or alternate titles for the albums. In this case the album is called "Same" at eMusic.com, when it should be "Arachnoïd".

Thanks for the recommendation ... I'll give it a try!

A lot of good krautrock on emusic, if you're into that.  Most ADII, a lot of Guru Guru, some Neu!

All the Henry Cow studio albums are on there (and the boxset is making its way on as well), there's National Health albums, Art Bears Hopes and Fears - but I don't know if you would want to get any of that.

Anyway...

^ thanks! I know what's on emusic ... as I tried to explain above, I'm currently spending a lot of time compiling the lists I linked to above. I just finished 1978:

http://progfreak.com/go/home/music.xhtml?path=albums/emusic/by_year/1978

What I'm hoping for in this thread is that you have a look at the lists and then recommend me some "must have"s ... Big smile

Is this happening manually?  Is it not updated recently?  Just confused as I am looking at the lists and there are a lot missing here.  (E.g. all of the genesis albums now are on emusic but not on these lists).  I am always looking for emusic prog and if this were more complete it would be awesome.
