Jimi Hendrix added to proto-prog

This was rock music's progression to it best, which still caught in it's caught in short song formation, but the advancement in technology helped open doors to the highly experimental mind of Jimi as a songwriter, and his outer world guitar pyrotechnics.

1. He's a Psyche artist: True, but  never says Prog Psyche, as Eetu well defined in his review, I even believe that Psyche is a beter place than proto Prog for Hendrix.
2. Progressiveears also says that "This was rock music's progression to it best" they clearly say progressing to their bast, improving, developing, not taking towards Prog, as it may seem.
3. He was an experimental songwriter (Sometrhing with what i disagree), but experimental doesn't mean Prog or Proto Prog.

As I said, I'm not uncomfortable witth his addition anymore (read my review about Electric ladyland), I don't believe he's a Proto Prog artist, he has some relation with Prog, he influenced everybody after him (Rock, Blues, Folk, Pop and Prog), but he's not an integral part of the prog genre, and I believe Proto Prog is already a Prog sub-genre.

People seem to believe Proto Prog is the Prog Related of the 60's, I believe is a Prog sub-genre by own right, and for that reason only Prog artists (with clear Prog elements and not just influential) should be there.

 

I know it won't happen, but Hendrix in Prog Related is much more acurate IMHO, even Psyche fits more.

While this is accurate as far as the definition of "proto-" goes, another common definition of this term is sort of as "almost progressive," artists which might bear some resemblance to the genre, but are not commonly considered as such. Again the omision of Hendrix is clear

 

Proggnosis has a lot of sub-genres and they have Proto Prog as EARLY PROGRESSIVE.
