The thing is, Rach lives about 15 minutes away from me, so she could easily drop one off (oooer) on her way into town.

Where is everybody? Surely recovered from the night out?
Just to show my ignorance - but what is lardy cake?
And if you see half a packet of beetroot seeds - they're mine. I've been looking for them everywhere and can't find them. I sowed the other half a couple of weeks ago and was hoping to plant this half packet today.
Good job I have a couple of spare packets - can't do wi'out mi beetroot tha knows.

Hope you got that Beetroot planted ok Rob!
Lardy Cake is a wiltshire delicacy, see here....http://www.greatbritishkitchen.co.uk/recipebook/index.php?option=com_rapidrecipe&page=viewrecipe&recipe_id=1171 I am not a big lard lover so tend to make mine with all butter, either way it's still a darn fine tasting heartattack on a plate! There seem to be 2 sheds all of a sudden, and I'm not logging in often enough these days to know what the dickens is going on, I vote that we let the office boys get back to work on Tuesday and put us straight! Got a bit diverted today I'm afraid Rach. Still, the season is yet young and bags of time to sow.
Ah now I see what all the drooling is about. Good wholesome stuff for refreshments during a day out burning calories in the garden. Sounds a reet tasty alternative to a nice fruity hot cross bun - not the cheapo supermarket variety as they have little fruit and pips in the currants.
I'm a reet sucker for fruit laden recipes, my breakfast cereal has to have extra sults and my speciality is a good dollop of raspberry compote from last season's pickings. Compote, sounds a bit posh to me - its just raspberries simmered with a bit of sugar until they are mushy and frozen. And joy of joy I have discussed a tub of frozen blackberries at the back of the freezer.

I'm a Moonraker and have never ate Lardy Cake.
But then my family are from London and Middlesex, so that probably explains it. |

Not all of us from thereabouts are ignorant of the Lardy Cake. Evelyn served up said delicacy yesterday. Washed down with half a gallon of 'builders'...Yum!..Slurp!" |

I'm feeling a bit like a Shedder today.
I planted 5 sunflower seeds yesterday and full watered them. Do you think they will need watering again today? The last time I tried to grow some a few years ago and they did start to grow but they got eaten by slugs. Any tips? |

Always sow seeds into pots and keep on a window sill indoors until they are established. Plant them out when they are a couple of inches tall. |

Oh... there's not much room indoors and it's an old pot... they grew to more than a few inches the last time outdoors before they got eaten.

Either surround the seedlings with broken egg-shells (slugs do not like crossing sharp surfaces) or plant a container full of beer next to the seedlings - sounds odd but it works - the slugs are attracted by the smell of the beer, drop in & drown.
Personally, much as I hate slugs, I favour the deterrent rather than the killing... I also don't like wasting me beer on slugs. |

Once you have to planted them outside, place a cloche cover over them for at least a week to 10 days. If you have a slug problem use a humane slug control if possible. If not just pellet the blighters! |
