I forsee hordes of unfortunately dreadlocked white middle class weekend anarchists descending on the capital from the well-off suburbs - there may be poorly played drums involved, too [edit] Sounds like a Levellers gig

I know that the City has a lot to answer for, but that's going way too far in my opinion.

Gone are the days when bands like Here and Now would turn up at the drop of a parliamentary bill.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

Still - will give us all something to rant about on Friday, eh

+++

Oh - and on which note, sadly, Rachel won't be joining us now - maybe next time...

And Alan can rant about this:

Protesters attack RBS building (Alan not inside)

Many thanks for the text Jim.
Fortunately half of us worked from home today as a precaution, including me. The building in that artice isn't ours but apparently some of the protestors are heading for an RBS building in Aldgate which is probably ours, so it's being evacuated now. I'll be going in tomorrow to see if there's any windows left.
Someone should go and tell them that our building is mainly IT people and distinctly lacking in "bankers".

We were assured by our bosses * yesterday that there wouldn't be any trouble.

* based several hundred miles away in Edinburgh.

Good luck Alan - I remember when I lived near Washington DC how World Bank/IMF protests would pretty much shut down that section of the city.  I was in grad school at the time and the campus was in that part of town - for those times I basically parked my car outside the city and took a (Metro) train in.

Isn't it funny how people will blame anyone except themselves for the mess we are in. Why, only this morning Matthew Right was saying how his friend (he seems to have a lot of friends) was in credit card debt to the tune of around £15,000. We could all do with 'friends' like MW who let their friends get into this kind of situation.

I don't know why we are blaming the politicians, after all they are only reflective of the electorate that put them there. Greedy, lacking responsibility, don't look to the future, sod everyone else and think that they can get away with it.

Who put the Shed into the fun section??

My thoughts exactly, put it back this instantAngry.  I certainly don't do this for fun, this is serious stuffOuchWink.
When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.

This time last year out credit card debt was much higher than MW's mate..., it was nothing to do with greed or lack of responsibility, it was what we lived off. With both of us working full time but no income coming in  there were prescious few choices. I don't think friends or family were either in a position to influence us or bail us out. Not all credit card debt is high living, champagne and shopping. For a lot of people it's food and petrol.

You could ignore the fact this is in just for fun by coming into The Shed via 'General Discussions', as we're still there, too. As to why we were moved...

Even more weird, if you enter The Shed via General Discussions, you come out in Just For Fun - The Shed has now become a portal in the space time continuum.

I'm not sure if we have enough dylithium crystals for the transporter to be able to take this any longer. I'll nip down to the garage and buy some. They do a 'B.O.G.O.F.F.' deal if you buy two bags of charcoal brickettes.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

My main worry is we now find ourselves with those pesky kids as neighbours again (the smell of old socks & testosterone is doing me in) & it doesn't matter how many times you access The Shed through General Discussions, you always exit into Just For Fun.

It's only a matter of time before someone finds themself in The Shred Room by mistake - this won't matter initially, as the denizens there are fairly benign, but sooner or later the errant Sheddit will type a coherent sentence and the game will be up

I'm confused. What with all this space portal stuff and lots of shoe adverts, I think I may be in the wrong forum.

contamination is only a matter of time... look how quickly the Shred Room was infected with the Suede virus. Cry
