Number 10 from the top 10:
Ron Fournier And finally: As they slog through the political wilderness, conservatives are desperate for deliverance. All we need - they keep telling themselves - is just one meme so awesome, so powerful, that it will make the American people realize how wrong they are about us... and bring down the Democratic Party for ever!!! Unfortunately the best they've come up with so far is 1) making silly allegations that the president is not really an American citizen, 2) using the word "socialist" a lot without actually knowing what it means, and 3) trying to dangle their balls in our mouths (I'm not kidding). Meanwhile a big news story on Yahoo today is how Bill O'Reilly is boycotting Sean Penn movies. With all that is going on this is a big news story. Go figure.

At least it doesn't refer to him as "Barack the magic Negro" like Rush Limbaugh did.

Interesting. This nutcase would never get away with that in the UK - he would almost certainly be charged by the police if not already hounded out by the media. Do you regard it as a good thing that these views can be aired in USA? I am generally a libertarian socialist, so believe very much in freedom of speech, even if it offends. This can be a difficult position to take sometimes though! |

I think that Rush is pandering to the 10% of the Republican party that want to hear this crap. I heard the song. It was stupid. Much like most of the parodies that he does. He can say whatever he wants as long as it doesn't bring violence towards anyone. All he is doing is helping to bring the Republican party down. Edited by crimhead - March 30 2009 at 13:33 |

I share your political affiliation, and as a citizen of a country who was under a dictatorship less than seventy years ago (I am Italian by birth, though now I live in the US), I am all too aware of the importance of freedom of speech. However, I can't help wondering at the way people seem to be abusing of this freedom. Whenever I read things like, "if it offends you, that's your problem, not mine", I can't help thinking this is just another form of violence. I firmly believe that my freedom ends when someone else's begins, and this is why I always hold myself in check even when I'd like to respond to someone in a very aggressive way (and it happens quite often, believe me). Anyway, in my humble view of things, those to resort to slander and name-calling to make their point are severely flawed. Constructive criticism is not easy to achieve, but I believe smart, reasonable people can do it. |

I don't agree with Rush on much, but I certainly support his right to speak. There is another guy named Michael Savage who makes Rush look like a choir boy, and I support his right to speak as well. The thought of the police charging people for their opinions is chilling. I lean Left on most issues, but sometimes it is the liberals who frighten me with political correctness.
The police should worry about physical violence, not opinions and words. (And I'm sure Uncle Frank Zappa would back me on that.) |

hahhaha.. I'm sure you'll find that sentiment on one of Zappa's 100 odd albums somewhere I'm sure. |

You know, Jim, in principle I agree with you, but I also know from experience that words can be as violent as actions, and have a very negative effect on people. However, this is a very slippery slope, and a subject so thorny that I'd rather not go into it now. Just remember.... Hitler was voted into office, and before he resorted to outright violence, he influenced people's minds with his words. |

a slippery slope indeed... the point is of course... where to start.. where to stop...
who decides that ... a government that has shown more times than not that it isn't our best interests they have at heart.. but it's own... no... free speech is just that... with the knowledge that it isn't without condition...that one's free speech stops where another's rights begin.. |

Meh. I've seen much worse critique of Obama so far. I thought it was going to be another picture that portrayed him as a stereotypical "ignorant/stupid black man" or dropped the N-word. |

Michael Savage cracks me up at times. Remember he got fired from MSNBC for telling a guy to choke on a sausage and get AIDS and die. Good stuff. |

Time for me to anger some people again.
Speaking Obama
by Jeffrey Jena
In the past few days there have been several reports about officials, high and low, using new politically correct language to describe things which have been around awhile. The best example is the new head of the Department of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, refusing to use the word “terrorist.” She preferred describing terrorist actions as “Man Caused Disasters.” The problem with politically correct speech is that it hides the obvious. Even Big Freakin’ Hillbillies like me understand an illegal immigrant is someone who broke the law to get into this country. We of simple minds get confused when folks from the Ivy League start describing them as “migrants.” To us, migrants are plain spoken folk, those who waited in line, did the right thing and came here in accordance with our laws. In order for us morons on the right to understand the newspeak of the Obama administration I offer this glossary of terms before and after being “Obamized.” Feel free to add to my list while you are still able. Old Bush/Cheney/Halliburton Hate Speech - Obama Speak Terrorist - Misunderstood Islamic Freedom Fighter Terrorist Act - Man Caused Disaster Wealth Redistribution Scam - Global Warming Global Warming - Climate Change Freedom Tower - Chinese World Business Headquarters Enemy Combatant - Victim of Bush Chaney War Crimes Illegal Immigrant - Migrant/Democrat Voter Global War on Terror - Overseas Contingency Operation Axis of Evil - Islamic Republic of Iran Socialism - Government Friendly Capitalism Welfare - Tax Rebate Businessman - Greed Monger Entrepreneur - Government Revenue Enhancer Middle Class - Rich Republican -Taxpayer Conservative - Klansman Abortion - Reproductive Rights Unfettered Abortion - Embryonic Stem Cell Research Windfall Profits Tax - Cap and Trade Volunteer - Americorps Political Activist On Time Mortgage Payer - Chump Marxist/Socialist Liberalism - Historic Presidency Dollar - Global Currency Reeducation Camp - Job Training Health Care - Socialized Medicine Wall Street - U.S. Department of Economic Control Rehashed Clinton Administration - Change You Can Believe In Conservative Supreme Court Justice - Homophobe Private Property - Future Government Acquisition Bipartisanship - Do It Our Way Contract Provision - Government Oversight Seek input from across the aisle - We won, sit down and shut up Private Enterprise - Future Federal Employment Project Unemployment - Idleness Compensation Program National Security Issue - Law Enforcement Problem Defend and Protect the Constitution - If It Fits My Agenda |

I don't agree with this. Call a spade a spade. If someone gets offended oh well. I don't agree that a Terrorist = Man caused disaster. If we improperly engineer a dam or a bridge and a disaster happens from them it is not the same as a man blowing up a bomb or shooting someone. |
