I prefer Retrospektiw I-II's version of M.D.K. as well.

Attahk is mediocre by Magma's standards, but would be great quality for many other bands.  LOL There is music I love from it.

I think Josh explained quite well what happened to M.D.K.'s ratings:

"...despite this all, despite the composition being one of the finest ever (for the album is truly a single composition), and despite the concept being extremely interesting, despite the phenomenal musicianship of all members, despite this: this album is no longer one of Magma's more popular. My assumption is that Magma fans expressed their love for .M.D.K., and non-Magma fans decided to give her a try, and being appalled by Magma in general (not necessarily by this album in particular) reviewed it lowly, or spoke against it. They claim it just isn't their type of thing."

I'm multi-tasking as usual (a reason why I tend not to participate in these fast-moving threads as there are so many distractions, and so it commonly takes me a while to get down my post -- especially the kids).

I'm playing Mendelssohn with a trio, and that's Chamber music.

This is noise.

Not ready to shout "good" yet, but overall the second half soothed my towards the epic.

M.D.K. is a he.

Females are temperamental.  M.D.K. is perfect.  Therefore M.D.K. is a he. LOL

Now Merci would be a she. LOL

Univers Zero is great, for sure, and that's a damned fine album, but I still turn to Art Zoyd more for my chamber prog kick.

That's probably because Art Zoyd don't have a drummer and so are more akin to true chamber music.

I prefer the heaviness and dark-undertones of UZ and Present.  As for Shub-Niggurath... wow!
