Bedlam might just be their best perhaps.
I dunno, I'd be inclined to give Frances 4 stars while Bedlam is 5.

Bedlam = StarStarStarStarStar

Frances = StarStarStarStar

So yes, Bedlam is better. For me anyway.

Edit: And Harry is right. It's their best.

De-Loused is at the top, comfortably.

Bedlam's first pieces are the problem, they're not so good, but it gets better afterwards.

With Frances it's the other way around, the first half is 24K gold, Cassandra Gemini is the problem.

Glad we cleared that. Wink

Nice to see some stars for Bedlam from you all, anyway. I was starting to think I'm the only one who appreciated it to the max. Big smile

I agree. Cassandra could have trimmed out most of the second half without missing much. Although I could say the same about the last 3-4 minutes of Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore.

I like the noodling. Classy.

Omar-Rodriguez, solo, does much more experimental noodling, half of it bad.

I can't believe none of you mentioned TMV's best album, Amputechture.

Gallows humour all the way

Yeah, on the one hand, it's sad that they're vanishing, on the other, I think saying they're masters of survival somewhat contradicts the evidence.

Unfortunately humans get in their way when it comes to masters of survival.

Humans always wreck things. Cry

It's because it's so bad, I almost tossed it in the bin.

Seriously, Frances gave me a hint of "punk & metal", but Amputechture raised it to infernal measures. I don't a single favourite piece on that album, and the first time, I couldn't digest it more than half.

Sorry. Amputechture is the lowest point for TMV - Bedlam was sorted much, much better, with some similar ingredients.

If you're talking about how the first album ages over time, then I agree.

If you're talking about the music the band makes from album to album....

Hmmm Bedlam is the weaker album, I don't have the desire to listen to it as much as I do the other 3...

It's hard to be nice to TMV albums after Frances. I think they're some of the most disgusting, repulsive, annoying, affront-to-good-taste, and rage-inducing albums of the past decade.

I can't think of TMV as anything but a huge joke now.

TMV = Clown

Just don't listen to them as often as I did when I first discovered them.

I honestly couldn't even chime in on this debate - haven't listened to TMV in a long time.  My assessment at the time was a trend downward in quality from debut to Amp, followed by a good bounce back upwards with Bedlam.
