Possibly, check out BGO - they were released by Liberty on vinyl, but that label has long been defunct. There is apoint in their catalogue where they run of ideas and variations - it is clear McPhee got pissed off in the end, especially having play the old favourites over and over again - one of his solo live albums has the title "Who Shouted For Cherry Red" something his detested playing

Oh good - I always fear this sort of music is too 'country & western' for folks - however, this is gospel anyway! Edited by Dick Heath - March 12 2009 at 17:41 |

i think it was probably a kick ass show - since each puts one on solo.
i don't know that they played together but i suspect that, at some point during the show, they did.
'twas probably smokin' !
hey, thanks for another great show, DR H - most excellent :)
good night,
K

Don't know yet if i can join, I'll try. Have seen Allan Holdsworth yesterday. He played fred, which was awesome. The rest of the songs were a mixed bag for me. Found my self wondering off. The drummer Gary Husband was magnificent though.

I'm glad Gary is back with Holdwworth, having seen Holdsworth 3 times over the last 30 months with Chad Wackerman on skins and liked what he was doing less each time - a bit too baroque (busy, frilly) whilst Husband can turn on the power and also be most subtle - did Husband play keys at all? Would agree the highlight of all three shows (especially with Alan Pasqua on keys) has been Fred. One acquaintance (and fan of Holdsworth), and I discussed Holdsworth music. some time ago We agreed that there is nobody better or as unique playing guitar, particularly in a good memorable song. Alas too many of Holdsworth's (more recent) compositions are only vehicles for some astounding solos and readily forgotten, a fragile shell of a song that breaks and lets the nourishing middle disappear too easily.
