I was afraid that that link might change. When I posted it it was my recent purchases, but now it just mirrors my signature.
I haven't listened to Switch yet, but I saw it for $3.50 when I went shopping this weekend, and since we were talking about it with E-Dub I decided to pick it up.

I'm not really sure what to expect. This is their newest album that they recorded with the new singer who they found through that Rock Star reality show a couple of years ago.

OH! I lied, I've heard a lot of it - a friend played it for me back when it first came out.
I'm not a fan, but maybe someone who is would appreciate it... |

^like me
Haha, personally, not one of their bests, but interesting to see what the new singer can do, even if their recognised sound isn't present anymore.. |

Well, during some two months self-exile from PA (did me good, too), I've bought a lot of new music.
Some of it is even prog:
^ Good, bargain-priced 2 CD retrospective. I'm a late convert to the squeaky vocal charms of Mr. Lee, so this was a good place for me to start. Has almost all of the essential hits. Getting a lot of play in the car -- my wife likes it too. They should have called it Gold Rush, though....
^ Some good, some not so good. (I'm hot and cold on these guys.) Good, bargain-priced way for the sometime fan to get their catchier hits, just the same.
^ Very good, of course, and another cheapo ($7.99). I had no Winwood on CD, and only one Traffic, so this was a good purchase. 11 classic tracks, 2 from Spencer Davis days (the rocking Gimmie Some Lovin' + I'm a Man), 1 from Blind Faith (the beautiful, moving and essential Can't Find My Way Home), and the rest are Traffic (no solo or 80s material). I was very pleased to see John Barleycorn, Dear Mr Fantasy and the epic, jazzy Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys (which I've long loved -- such a haunting, evocative opening, plus that sultry sax) included on here.
Nicely packaged, with several period photos and an informative little bio of the former child prodigy and stalwart keys master. A great deal! (As are many of the fine, extensive 20th Century Masters series in general -- I own perhaps 15 - 20.)
^ I'd read some favourable reviews of this nouveau folk album from a Mr Sam Beam, and the CD did not disappoint. Mellow, poetic, smart, dreamy, deep and very well done. Top-notch stuff, for the thinking fan of today's new folk. Musical beauty, with an undercurrent of disquietude & menace in the lyrics. My wife and (cool, 15 yr old) daughter like it too. A good find!
^ I fortuitously happened upon this late 60s original folk gem for FOUR dollars in a 2nd-hand CD store. I'd read of Drake & his tragic early demise, but never heard him. 40 years after this, his classic, widely revered & influential debut's recording, I finally get in on the act -- better late than never! Sad, lonely, classy -- my dear wife adores it too. You can bet I'll seek out his other two albums. Simply beautiful.
I've purchased many more of late, but that's enough tortured typing for tonight -- TTYT! Edited by Peter - March 11 2009 at 21:59 |

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!' He chortled in his joy. |

I just scanned down the thread and good to see younger guys buying albums I purchased three decades ago ! I just came across an unmixed version of Black Sabbath`s 1983 Born Again ( Ian Gillian vocals) with an unreleased bonus track The Fallen. You don`t know what I paid for it niether does my wife. And she won`t.
