Do correct me if I'm wrong, but do I detect just a note of dissatisfaction in your tone of late?

Sorry, I can't imagine why that would be.

OK, I'll stop banging on about Fred the Shred, I promise.

So guys, are we still up for the prog curry night?

Oh you keep banging on, that's what The Shed's for, mate; you got a gripe, you vent it here from the safety of your armchair - we listen.

Mind you, at least you don't have the most patronising & condescending advertising campaign of all time running on TV (have you seen the latest Nat West ads...?)

And yes - prog curry still on (what was the date again? )

Yes, we're not really in a position to offer anyone financial advice at the moment. I heard someone talking the other day, part of their job is to phone people up who have gone overdrawn and offer advice. They said all they get now is abuse and people saying "who are you to offer me financial advice?".

Which is a fair point!

With a bit of luck this should be my 7000th post!

Sorry, forgot to say we pencilled in Friday 3rd April.
If anyone's interested, I will suggest we meet at a pub called the Walrus and Carpenter near Monument Station. It's fairly quiet (note to self - check it's still there) and there's a good curry house called The Rajasthan next door.

Yes, it is still there.

3rd April it is then - I'll get my special calendar crayon out this evening when I get home

Mind you - have you read the reviews of the Walrus & Carpenter?

Quote If you suffer from chronic constipation, I'd suggest that a pint of beer in this pub could sort you out pretty quickly. Otherwise, don't bother.

you could always hit the 'report this for removal' on that post, Jim  Tongue

but seriously, how could a place called the Walrus&Carpenter not have superb dining?

Well, superb if you like oysters Wink.

It all sounds good to me, and I should be able to get a pass for the night as well.

Remember guys, you're only allowed to Ulk there.  No speaking any other language. Wink  Oh, well except singing a few Carpenters tunes but that's the only exception.

Hmm - looking forward to the 3rd but I think another drinking venue should be chosen.
Confusion will be my epitaph

I must admit I haven't been to the Walrus for a few years but I never had a problem of the evacuation sort after drinking there. Having read the reviews it appears to be run by Poles now and has obviously gone downhill. There are other pubs nearby but they tend to get a bit crowded, especially on a Friday.
Happy to go with the general opinion.

A couple of pub suggestions if I may make so bold...

The Princess Louise
This a very famous pub close to Holborn Tube and is at the New Oxford Street end of High Holborn. Quite close to The Drury Lane end of Covent Garden

http://www.pubs.com/pub_details.cfm?ID=226

The Harp.
Chandos Place, WC2N 4HS
Not far from the curry houses that we have visited before.
This pub won the CAMRA London riband last year...I think.
It has had some very good and interesting beers on recently and a selection of ciders and perrys.
The blurb says Leicester Square. In fact,Trafalgar Sqaure is closest and it is not far from The Coal Hole.About 2 minute's walk.

Could be a possibility - one of the CAMRA chappies at our local suggested that one to us a week or 2 ago.
