I recently discovered this one-man-band and i really like what this guy does. Some of best modern Sympho-Prog i've heard... i usually keep with the 70's as newer stuff doesn't have THAT VIBE. Willowglass really capture the feeling (that 70's vibe) that made me adore prog in the first place.
I've only heard Book of Hours so far. Reminds me a lot of Camel and somewhat of Genesis' instrumentals.
Any fans?

I discovered Willowglass some months ago thanks to Erik Neuteboom and since the very first time i listened to Book of Hours i fell in love with it, this is pure mellotron heaven and one of the best symphonic releases from the last years, in fact, i voted for Book of Hours as my Top album of 2008.
Highly recommendable!

I have the debut and initially thought it quite good, but it seems to get weaker over time rather than better. It's not holding up for me well. Very pretty, but not much underneath to hold my interest.
Just my view.

Aww, i'm sorry to hear that... having just discovered the band i hope it wont grow off of me as well, heh. The music actually feels very deep and layered to me... can this be only a skin-deep illusion? I hope not anyway... The only reason i can see that i'd lose interest over time is the lack of vocal parts... i'm usually not a huge all-instrumental lover. I love the way he puts songs together...... but for now i will hold off on dubbing Andrew Marshall the second coming of Steve Hackett... tho that was my initial impression.

Well Adam, we're all different so don't let my post bum you out!! I actually love instrumental albums but I posted my thoughts because I just happened to play Willowglass a few days ago, and a few weeks ago before that, and noticed the change from my initial perceptions very dramatically. I played it again to confirm this and did confirm it. I think we all have very different parameters for how we judge both initial reaction, and value over time. So like I said, don't be bummed out about what I said. Believe me, the majority of the WG fans here will disagree with me big time on this

Yeah, i know you're right.  I'm actually listening to Book of Hours again right now and it still sounds very good to me.

Hi Jim, the secon album, "Book of Hours" is better than the first one in my opěnion so i recommend it to you, i think you may like it

Well I am a fan, I recently reviewed it and it has stunned me ever since. Yeah, it has mellotron, yes, it is derivative but frankly speaking , so what? I think Book of Hours is a masterpiece and deservedly so. The more I listen to it , the more I undress its charms. Amen!

Willowglass has been one of my favorite acts from the last year and a half, so I am bumping this thread because again, I want to recommend his music, which is beautiful to my ears.
