She's Hexadecimal from the Canadian animate series ReBoot. it's part of a minor facination I have with using masks to portray emotions rather than to hide them (Japanese Noh Theatre, Venetian Commedia dell'Arte etc.). My Avatar is based on Commedia dell'Arte.

Sounds good to me. I don't have a full collection of Rubinstein plays Chopin, actually. Out of what I have, the preludes are dearest to me. |

i have heard many versions of Beethoven's 6th Pastoral Symphony, tempo issues aside Karajan's reading of this work is my favourite and to me the most involving, as many versions i have heard sound a bit plodding in comparison - but everyone hears things differently. I have heard tempo issues discussed a lot in Classical music where conductors have made artistic changes to pieces where they deem appropriate, though personally i think metronome-perfect music could lack the "human" factor in some cases.
in rock music if you see a band and know their recorded music very well it is sometimes a shock to hear them bashing through their songs at breakneck speed to enhance the live music, and the tempo can vary wildly, adding excitement to it all - i would ask experienced musicians how important keeping "in perfect time" actually is in music, or does it get in the way?

Reminds me in a way of the living statues around the Uffizi in Florence: This isn't my photo, but I remember this one distinctly - I believe I have a photo of Vicky with him somewhere... There is something about Italian cities such as Florence & Venice... quite breathtaking places. |

I guess you're never been to Rome.... My hometown is probably the only thing I really miss now. In spite of all the problems it has, it is a place like no one else, and the only one in Italy where I'd want to live (and believe me, I tried the 'small is beautiful' thing... Never again!). |

Now now Rico - that sounded distinctly petulant; we don't do petulant in The Shed...
...creaky, doddery & a bit forgetful, maybe, but not not.... No - completely forgot what I was saying |

Debs and Alex went to Venice over half-term and came back with loads of photos like this. Debs said it was like being at the Gothic Weekend in Whitby

Now I know there's the Stoker connection with Whitby, but "The Whitby Gothic Weekend" sounds about as plausible as "The Stevenage Rennaisance Fayre"
