Includes Exclusive Merchandising Agreement
February 11, 2009—Peace Frogs, a leading US manufacturer of ecologically responsible, sustainable living, and green-themed clothing joins with multimedia leader Umbrello Music Entertainment, LLC, London|New York, the home of legendary 'Mod Prog' recording artists The Syn, in presenting 'Big Sky Tour 2009.' The partnership includes an exclusive merchandising agreement to create, manufacture, distribute and sell authentic branded Syn merchandise. The jointly-designed product line will be available for sale at all of The Syn's live performances, as well as through UME's own global distribution network. In addition, Peace Frogs will offer its own signature `Environmental by Nature' merchandise at all of The Syn shows during this tour. The Syn plan to launch their highly-anticipated North American tour in April with performances scheduled coast to coast, including special in-store performances at key Peace Frogs' retailers nationwide. One eagerly awaited highlight of the Big Sky tour will be two full evenings of fund raising performances by The Syn—all proceeds to be donated to music, education and the arts. These performances will be held in the Peninsula/Middle Peninsula area of Hampton Roads, Virginia, very near to Peace Frogs' national headquarters in Gloucester. Catesby Jones, Peace Frogs' Founder and CEO states that, "We are the original green. When a product has the Peace Frogs logo associated with it, a customer knows that they are doing their part to spread a sustainable philosophy. Part of that green lifestyle is a positive attitude. Over 3 million people a year visit our website looking for that Peace Frogs state-of-mind and they will now be able to find The Syn there too." Steve Nardelli, Umbrello Music Entertainment's Founder & CEO, and the lyricist/lead singer for The Syn continues "The association of Umbrello with Peace Frogs is a natural. We have the music and they have the visual iconography which complements what we do extremely well on many different levels. Look for the release of our new CD 'Big Sky' to feature unparalleled music aligned with some of the most creative tour memorabilia that this new century has yet to see." RoSfest is pleased to announce Special Guest THE SYN
In light of Brazil's APOCALYPSE having to bow out of the festival due to the current financial crisis, we are pleased to announce THE SYN on Friday night. The Syn will show off a new lineup and a new vision with their latest CD 'Big Sky' and an extensive North American tour (dates to be announced later this week). Formed in 1965, The Syn was a precursor of the band Yes, with that band's bassist Chris Squire as one of the founding members. At various times The Syn has also included Yes alums Peter Banks and Alan White in their lineup. Now The Syn continues forward with a core lineup of Steve Nardelli (founding member, songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist), Francis Dunnery (of It Bites and Robert Plant fame - guitars and vocals) and Tom Brislin (Spiraling - also keyboardist on Yes' Symphonic tour - keyboards and vocals). The lineup is augmented for the tour by Paul Ramsey (Echolyn) providing drums and other percussion, Brett Kull (also of Echolyn) on guitar and Dorie Jackson doing backing and harmony vocals. This year's event will be the sixth annual Rites of Spring Festival. Located in the Greater Philadelphia Area (Glenside, PA), the festival features some of the best progressive rock acts from all over the globe. Other acts at the event will include Nektar, Lazuli, John Lees' Barclay James Harvest, Iluvatar, Frost*, Mangala Vallis, Abigail's Ghost, Moon Safari, Moth Vellum, Touchstone and Silver Pipe. For more information on the festival go to www.rosfest.com. You can find the Syn on the Web at www.synmusic.net and www.myspace.com/thesyn. About Umbrello Records: Umbrello Records is a leading independent record label and part of Umbrello Music Entertainment. Umbrello Records is home to a diverse family of artists. In addition to progressive music leaders The Syn, the roster includes talented artists Julie Felix (in a collaboration with John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin), K2 featuring Allan Holdsworth (U.K., Level 42), Ryo Okumoto (Spock's Beard), Ken Jaquess (Atlantis), violinist Yvette Devereaux and drummer Doug Sanborn (The Untouchables). Theo Travis (The Tangent, Gong, Bruford) will play on the 'Big Sky' CD but not join the tour. The Syn already have a wonderful live lineup consisting of Steve Nardelli, Francis Dunnery, Tom Brislin, Brett Kull, Paul Ramsey, and Dorie Jackson!

Syn 2 Show Benefit Concert Supports Music/Arts Education in Small Southeastern Virginia County
March 5, 2009—In the winter of 2005, Syn founding member Steve Nardelli participated in a long-distance phone interview with his good friend and progressive music fan Steve Sikes-Nova, M.Ed., M.S.W. Sikes-Nova had been a teacher in the rural Gloucester County, Virginia, public schools for over 10 years at the time and had met and befriended Nardelli through his internet radio station. Despite being in San Francisco for a show, Nardelli was committed to sharing his belief in the positive power of music in education both with Sikes-Nova's internet radio audience and with key staff members of Sikes-Nova's school. Nardelli promised that, should The Syn return live to the east coast in the future, they would play a benefit concert for the students of Gloucester County. "The life of the arts, far from being an interruption, a distraction, in the life of the nation, is close to the center of a nation's purpose - and is a test to the quality of a nation's civilization." John F. Kennedy Fast-forward three years. On April 27 & 28, 2009, at the beginning of an intensive tour schedule that takes The Syn cross country and through Canada, Nardelli makes good on his promise. The Syn, now Francis Dunnery (x-It Bites, The Robert Plant Band), Tom Brislin (Yes Symphonic, Spiraling), and both Brett Kull and Paul Ramsey of Echolyn, play Gloucester High School's 800 seat auditorium and will donate 100% of the gate to the rural Virginia school system. 200 seats each night are to be set aside as free seats for Gloucester County students. It turns out that Nardelli's promise could not have been realized at a better moment in time. In this tough economy, the money raised by these two benefit concerts will come in particularly handy towards keeping arts education healthy in Gloucester County (home also to Peace Frogs, sponsor of Big Sky Tour 2009). In addition to the concerts, Nardelli and The Syn are excited about participating in unique, interactive workshops with GHS students throughout the school day on April 28th. For besides being internationally-known touring musicians, both Nardelli and Francis Dunnery own their own media companies - Umbrello Music Entertainment, LLC, and Aquarian Nation Records, respectively - which opens up workshop topics to include both the artistic and business aspects of making and distributing music in the new millennium.*Steve Nardelli states, "Francis, Tom, Brett, Paul and I are really looking forward to talking about what we do directly with the students." "Music has a great power for bringing people together. With so many forces in this world acting to drive wedges between people, it's important to preserve those things that help us experience our common humanity." - Ted Turner, Turner Broadcasting System. The Gloucester performances and The Syn's 'Big Sky Tour 2009' in general will feature songs both from the eclectic new 'Big Sky' album and from The Syn's 2005 progressive rock classic, 'Syndestructible'. Segments of both the concerts and the student workshops will be filmed for broadcast on Nardelli's cutting-edge HD-IPTV portal, Umbrello.tv (http://umbrello.tv) by both student and professional camera-persons. There will be no shortage of inspiring lyrical and soaring musical content during these concerts. Nardelli says, "Music should both move and inspire young people of all ages." "Some time, some way, your dreams awaken; You will not be forsaken; And like a phoenix rising, into the midnight skies, you will realize, there's stardust in your eyes. " "Nothing and nobody will fail; Something is happening, right here right now; Nothing's impossible, for me and for you; In the City of Dreams, dreams come true."
