Hmmm, RBS announces the biggest corporate loss in history (by a big margin), details of Sir Fred's pension are revealed and our shares go up 25%. How does that work then?
Just wait till they find out Sir Fred is still employed by RBS.

Will try for April 3rd but the old Londinium is a fair trot for me. Unfortunately the train would cost a small mortgage so it's driving time. What time does the congestion charge finish these days? I know that the zone now starts at about Oxford.

Ironically, that shock treatment must have worked to an extent - since that incident I've bought and enjoyed Pallas's 'Dreams Of Men' and 'The Blinding Darkness' (which is a good album if you avoid the sections where they "treat" the audience to the "Atlantis suite" in its entirety, then bring on Euan Lowson for the encore...).
Neil - if you can get away early enough, stay with us that weekend.

No problems Lee.
We came up with a way of saving RBS £16 million yesterday - we're going to have a whip round to pay Sir Fred's pension for him. The poor chap, only has a few hundred grand a year to scrape by with.

A quote from Geoffrey Smith who sadly passed away. A true loss to the shed. Who else was inspired by his enthusiasm for the garden? I certainly was - perhaps more so than any other presenter.

Very sad, he was a lovely bloke. I knew him when I engineered and drove the Gardeners' Question Time mobile studio in the mid nineties. I remember when we had a particularly late night de-rigging the kit after a recording near Dundee; when we got back to the hotel he was waiting in the bar with a pint ready for me and the other engineer. RIP.
