Can you get Jimmy A's albums in your part of the world? Apparently a third album is just out (or about to be released) in Sweden

i enjoyed it !

as for Jimmy A - i don't know, i think i'd have to order online actually.

imports are hard for me anyway, as i have to travel to the north of Seattle where the best imports
store (Glass Platters) is located.

i KNOW i'll be picking up some though, along with that Mats/Morgan thing you played awhile back which had that lovely song with Mats singing on it.

by the way, have you heard "Some Skunk Funk" - ostensibly a Randy Brecker solo album but really the Brecker Brothers with Peter Erskine on drums and the WDR Big Band (arr by Vince Mendoza). i'm starting to really become a huge fan of those guys (WDR) - who, i believe, also played on the fabulous "Brown Street" album with Joe Zawinul (most excellent).

anyway, it's quite good. you might like it. SMOKIN' and Peter Erskine, one of my favourite drummers, tears it up... if you see it, get it.

Kim

A monster parcel of Cuneiform records releases appeared today, (seems all albums from last two issues - was there a Leo Smith album too???) so next week a heap of left field music

funny - i read that as VERNON REID and was very surprised by that last track!

by the way:
did i tell you that i'm now playing keyboards in my friend Mike Johnson's fine band "Thinking Plague"?

we have some shows coming up at the end of March, so i've been practicing the material, which has been great fun. they're a very misunderstood band - a lot of folks lump them in with the so-called RIO crowd, and some of those artists certainly inspired Mike (and me too, for that matter) but really he has his own style.
it takes a few listens for people to get, i think. quintessential contemporary chamber rock music, imho.
harmonically and melodically rich stuff. a lot of fun to play.

anyway, i mention it only because you're playing this stuff and just got some other Cuneiform things.

have i mentioned before how DIVERSE your playlists are???? i love that. very cool.

this Mantler is pretty unusual.... Thumbs Up
