I can't speak for Eric, but I thought it was a quite decent album.  Not up to my favorite h-era albums, Season's End, AOS and TSE, but quite solid.
 


It doesn't deserve the criticism, that's for sure. I agree with Doc. It's a middle tier album and a far cry better than Marillion.com and This Strange Engine. The only clunker for me is "The Last Century For Man".

I'll venture on to say that even though Happiness Is The Road is a better album, even the worst clunker on SWE is still better than songs like "Older Than Me" and "Threw Me Out". To be honest, the latter part of Happiness Is The Road: The Hard Shoulder keeps it from being a 5 star album.

Just my opinion, though.
