What I'd like to know is why we rarely see a prosecution go through against one of these places.  I thought that ignorance was no excuse so saying "I don't THINK that we employ any illegals in the factory" should not be a get out of jail card.

Off the back of that report the police should raid these factories and if they find people who are illegal workers and that the owner doesn't have proper pay records etc. then  he should be jailed.

We currently have more laws on statute in this country than ever before in its history and yet we enforce next to none of them (apart from speeding tickets).Confused

When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.

In today's throwaway society people will continue to buy stuff that is cheap, their concience left at home while they pick up impossibly cheap bargains (unless it's stolen goods of course...!)  - be it clothes, food. tools etc etc.., but the people who make these items have been robbed of their freedom and human rights, the feudal system still seems to be alive and well in the UK ....

it makes you want to keep your old clothes, except many of mine don't fit anymore, those flares need to go- they're far too tight, i'm not a 28" waist anymore Embarrassed

...anyone know how to darn a sock..?  Ermm

funny you say that, my kicks are quite good..unfortunately kicking is one small part of a good defence and one must be versed in all ranges of combat, though rolling around on the ground trying to control some guy is not exactly fun Ouch Smile

Perfect description of Primark, Jared, perfect - Next week Jared asks "T-Max... high street retailer or jumble sale?"

In other words, "Bugger! They busted us in Mumbai, they busted us in Manchester... Pete - get Malaysia on the phone!"

I remember well being a 28 inch waist, then the realisation 30 was more comfortable, then 32; although I've stayed at 32 for the last few years, my fondness for Our Mutual Friend has to pay dividends eventually...

...incidentally - Vicky not only knows how to darn a sock, but she knows how to knit them using 4 needles at once; and they last forever, too

I have to run due to my severe allergy to violence - I break out in cuts & bruises.

Coming in late on this one but I had my first experience of Primark just before the new year and had the same thoughts as Jared. Won't be going there again. Not that I am too bothered about what I wear though as my clothing budget is a massive £150 a year. It would be more but I can't find anything made locally, apart from tailor made, so I don't buy - until things get a bit desperate.

^^being as my annual clothes budget is more like £15, more recently, I've become a convert to charity shop rails (although with my odd shape, beggers can't be choosers..Embarrassed)
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Actually that seems to be a major tactic in karate - kick 'em in the nadgers and leg it quick!

^^well, you know how it is... I have reached that *certain* age where the number of inches around my waistline are now greater than the number of available grey cells...Ermm
