Well, I can't keep pretending. I miss my flute It was "borrowed" though, and despite my best intentions, I bumped into the girl from whom I "borrowed" it. So I "returned" it. Sad day.
However, I have decided that the time has come for a new woodwind to bless my home. However, other than Yamaha, I don't really know what is...good. I also know that on Amazon.com, Yamaha is not terribly cheap.
Does anyone know how a Tull fan can get himself a flute for three hundred bucks tops that WON'T be an utter piece of crap? You would be much appreciated; I could serenade you later on! You like Christmas carols, right?

Identical situation occurred with my best friend (flutist in our band) - but he borrowed TWO flutes, and bumped into BOTH girls. Stupid prick.
Yamaha YFL series are great, but to get a used one for a good price you have to dig deeper. Amati flutes are considerably cheap, and not sounding bad at all - but they're European brand and I'm not sure how common they are in States. But, you may want to take a look here . On a sidenote, there are PVC flutes - if that's not a blasphemy. I never heard one, but people say they sound reasonably well. |

I got my first flute from Ebay and I paid 90$. I took a guess and it was worth it. It was never really used before and it sounds great.

Hey now, be nice...I probably would have done the same thing if I'd somehow conned two flutes out of two separate girls.
Righto, thankee. Hopefully, by the end of the month, I'll have ordered the damn thing.

Well, to no one's surprise, I have a flute again. Gonna totally bust out some heavy flute riffage too ya know. It's a Selmer, if that means anything to anyone. Got it in a pawn shoppe; little more 'n two hundred bucks (online search revealed that's less than half the original price). Practically flawless condition, which means that when I blow into it, it makes sound and nothing sticks down. Keen, huh? I'm saving up my pennies for a slightly...er, BETTER one later on, but this'll do me fine. |

I've been using a 250€ stagg flute for how long now, and I've been pretty happy with it. Yes, it was the cheapest one int he shoppe, but sometimes you just get lucky, and I got a nice case with it.
