^^ I'm have been in one of those coveted 'final salary' schemes, but its an absolute joke, because I don't have a rolled up salary...ie I live in where I work, and have all my bills paid for me... which is reflected in my 'minimum wage' paypacket... it doesn't take a mathematician to work out that 2/3rds of 'not a lot' is even less still...

^^ its a healthy and wholesome way to look at it, Pat... just think of all those small, independent record labels and distributors, whose pension funds benefit from the good offices of PA members..

My condolences, Steve! I lost an aunt, my dad's sister, last year in August, and I did feel the loss. She was a presence in my life, even if only by phone (she lived some 500 km from me, in Southern Italy).

On a lighter note, this morning I thought about you all... I was passing by a Home Depot store (which our US friends know very well), and saw a poster saying "Sheds America" strategically placed over a specimen of said sheds

I played my first gig for several years on Friday night, filling in for the bass player in a mate's band. It was good to get back into it again, only had a slight problem when they threw 2 new songs at me the day before, one of them I'd never heard before and one of them was Highway Star which I'd never played before. Still, I managed to bluff my way through them.
Felt cream-crackered the next day (it was an 85 mile drive home from the gig) and now I feel even worse having been to karate and discovering that I'm too old for the veteran classification at tournaments - I'd be in the super-veterans class!

Been to PC World this afternoon (against my better judgement and as it turns out rightly so).  I was after an A3 capable scanner for some work I need to do and had seen on the net a Brother combined A3 printer/scanner.  I'm never home to receive things via courier so decided to try PC World just to see if they had anything in stock that I could take with me.  I asked the double glazed pizza faced sales child if they had any A3 scanners and he said "only one but it's combined with a printer".  He showed me the only one in stock which was a boxed Brother unit similar to the one that I'd seen on the net.  He said that he couldn't unbox it if I wasn't going to buy it but it had A3 written all over the box so at under £200 I though "why not?". After having an argument at the till explaining to them that they did not legally need my address and telephone number to sell me a printer and that unless they bypassed the computer I would just leave without it I was on my way home with my purchase.
