The way he said "A shed" gave me the distinct impression that it's actually a close neighbour's shed and it was blown into Neil's garden during a storm.

By the way, what's the collective noun for a group of sheds?
A shedload?
An Arthur Jackson?

Don't know about that, but Atavachron came across like our our version of Lady Bracknell*: "A Shed?"

Close but no Havana - he does have an engine shed, but not in his garden, wherein stand two edifices (edifici? ) of wooden construction, paint stirring stick storage for the use of.

^ Crikey, even our Scotty "loadsadrums" Higham doesn't have that many!  Do you think his drum tech gets extra for that lot???   (doubt it!)

So right as England is getting completely buried in snow and services are shut down, I thought it would be the perfect time to order an expensive box set to have shipped overseas!  Just brilliant on my part.  Ermm

How are the delays at Heathrow and Gatwick, anyway?

Everything's pretty much back to normal now, so your expensive box-set should be winging its way as we speak...

...via Terminal 5 to outer Mongolia

I do indeed have two sheds in my not particularly large garden.  One full of junk and tools and one with bike and motorbike inside.  The big shed is a massive 12' x 10' as well.Tongue

I think you'll find that the collective noun is allotment, as in the sentence 'Neil's got a fine allotment of sheds in his garden'. This can, of course, give rise to a sentence like 'Jim's got a fine allotment of sheds on his allotment', which is one of those vagaries of the English language that causes bafflement and confusion to non native English speakers (such as our splendid American counterparts), foreign English speakers and indeed those unfortunate enough to be blessed with neither sheds nor allotments*.

It has history as well.  It's been the mess shed and tool store on many of our building sites in the 1980s before languishing in our builders yard near Aylesbury for 10 years or more.  I finally brought it to its current home three years ago where it now has a proper concrete base and regular coats of creosote (substituteAngry).  It has finally found a pleasant pasture in which to finish its shed days.

Collective noun for sheds:  "firerisk"LOL

I concur - after a long & active life, your shed can spend the rest of its life in the peace of the Gloucestershire countryside, with views over open fields.

Ever thought of putting it out to stud?

It is possible to express admiration for somebody else's shed without being envious, and let's face it, 12' x 10' is an impressive size. In fact, it would be interesting to see some photographic evidence (what a giveaway!).
