Does any of You know the Danish band called Savage Rose, i would say they deserve a spot on PA.

Infact they are progressive at a very early point in history.

The Savage Rose (The Yellow Album) - 1968
 In the Plain - 1968
 Travellin’ - 1969
 Your Daily Gift - 1971
 Refugee - 1971

Hej DanskerBig smile

Ja jeg kender dem selvfølgelig godt og havde også tænkt mig at foreslå dem på et tidspunkt. Du skal dog bruge Suggest new bands siden.

A short translation of my above text is that I suggested tamijo to place his suggestion in the suggest bands section and make sure that he provide some samples for the team to listen to. I will only write in English from now on but it sure felt good to write something in my own language for once.

Good idea.

I´ve seen other people mention The Savage Rose here on PA but not many. That doesn´t mean that they wouldn´t make a great addition to the site though. Remember to contact me if you need any help with the suggestion part.

I second (or third Wink) Savage Rose's inclusion.

I've only heard their fifth Dodens Truimf, which I know is not that representative of the usual stuff theu do, but reading up on the band, there is no doubt they're prog.

I can see them in Psych prog (no doubt Eetu and the boys will bevaluate this ) or in Proto-prog

I agree with either psych or proto, but I lean most against proto, but like you Sean I haven´t listened to that much of their rather large discography. But I do know that they are one of the most important influences on the seventies progressive rock scene in Denmark. My guess is that their first couple of albums are in the psych catagory and that later albums ( late sixties/ early seventies albums, not their later albums) are more experimental/ progressive. Is that true tamijo?

Just briefy relistened the 1st. (selftiled) and yes they could well be described as Proto Prog, allthough the are somehow a lot more experimental/jazzy than The Door or The Beatless.

Later (late 70's ) they travel in the former East Europe and start taking inspiration from the local folk traditions there, becomming more of a " Political left/anarcistic Prog/Folk band", and even later (from mid 90's) they start making music of a modern and "POP" like sound (like PG's SO) combining lots of styles. Jazz POP Reggae ect ect.

If interested start with the first 5-6 albums, they are most interesting seen from a PA view.
(and maby a bit more easy to understand, because vocals are in English)

NB.: From 1995 they are in English again. But less directly Prog.

For those that do not read Danish...

Yes of course I know them well and also liked to propose them at a time. However, you must use the Suggest new bands since. To suggest it is a good idea to have some clear arguments for why they would be a gain for the PA and also some samples of their most progressive pages. Additionally, do you some thoughts about what sub-genre they would fit better into in. My suggestion would be proto-prog. It should otherwise only write in English here, so I make just a little abbreviated translation.

Ps. you have not forgotten Dødens Triumf ? And welcome otherwise. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Jeg har nogle af Savage Rose albums digitalt hvis du skulle få brug for samples

Be that as it may (and many have claimed to know what I think, only a few have succeeded Wink)  - the rules of the forum are all posts are in to be English - although my translation is crude and I made no attempt to make it grammatically correct, it did reveal a possible further infraction of the rules. Thank you for the clarification.

Im not sure how to get "legal" samples, from the early period.

I got CD's (LEGAL!!) , but im not sure if it would be legal to share a copyrighted CD sample.

Based on your suggestion, together with UMUR's and Hugues's further recommendations and from what I've heard on their MySpace page, I feel that a case for their inclusion could be made in the Suggest New Bands thread so that Eetu and the team can evaluate them for Psyche/Space or pass them on for Proto-Prog inclusion.

If you could give links to MySpace and YouTube tracks that give a good indication of their Progressive output that would be of great help.

Thanks Thumbs Up

And it gets me to practice my "paternal language" Wink.

Such a cool band though, right up my alley. Didn't know about them, so thanks for sharing. I've only sampled what last.fm, but so far, I'm loving the vocalist.
