Shall we call a halt to this now folks. Surely we in the shed have a bit of maturity?

Nope, my signature is still amusing me. Speaking of which... I have actually read Crap Towns by the same publisher. If you live in Kingston-upon-Hull then you won't want to read it. Edited by James - January 24 2009 at 14:41 |

I think the only thing that has any maturity in here is that lump of cheddar on the table.
If there is any maturity in the shed I certainly don't want to catch it!

I'd have it with oatcakes (Scottish rather than Staffordshire) but to each their own...
Jared - to the cheese shop this instant!!!

I guess you've heard the joke about the deli which sells a cheddar cheese so strong that it numbs the roof of your mouth, from under the counter?...
well believe me, in Kington, we have a Butcher's which does just that... if you ask for some, he feels duty bound to ask whether you have had it before and to advise you of its strength...
believe me, its good stuff... you can't taste anything else for about an hour afterwards... Edited by Jared - January 24 2009 at 16:08 |

Must be similar to that Octuple Gloucester mentioned by Pynchon.

Now that sounds like my kind of cheese - Give me a few ounces of that, some grapes, a good apple & some decent pickled onions & I'll be a happy bunny As a bonus, I'll also be able to strip paint with my breath afterwards |

A good alternative to bread or crackers is a slice of rich fruit cake (or buttered malt loaf) - the sweetness goes really well with a sharp cheese.
