We used to have a really cool radio station back in the days I was growing up with the call letters WLLZ. Their motto was the Wheels (WLLZ) that rock the Motor City. I know most proggers complain about radio overplay, but as usual I am different in that respect. |

With my strange view of the world, I have always been one to say that Stairway to Heaven is my favorite song ever, but Kashmir is my favorite Led Zeppelin song. Tom Sawyer is arguably my 2nd favorite song ever, but Vital Signs is my favorite Rush song. I'm not really sure where that view comes from but maybe that is that little bit of Rock In Opposition that lives within me.

This station was pretty awesome. They played Zep, Rush, ELP, Yes, Jethro Tull, Kansas, etc... Yes, it was generally the radio popular songs, but still much better then anything usually played on 99% of the other evil radio stations that you refer too.

Oh, that's good. I've only heard LZ and Kansas (Carry On) on the radio, out of those you mentioned.

Those are pretty standard. Just usually the stations never veer from the mentioned band's top few songs. For instance, they'd play Tom Sawyer, Lucky Man, Roundabout / I've Seen All Good People, Aqualung, and maybe a few others. Satellite radio is better, exceptionally better sometimes, but nothing beats listening to full albums in the car.

Admittedly, you probably weren't even born yet when this radio station went off of the air.
I actually remember picking up a really awesome metal station in the Cincinnati area the one time my buddies and I were there for a weekend to go to King Island and a Cincinnati Reds game. The station was called Z-Rock and they played all of the cool metal of the 80's that we were listening too at the time. I'm sure that it is probably long dead now too.

Yeah, it doesn't matter how good a radio station is, I'd find it hard to convince myself to not play an album instead.

Dad tells me that around here (Cincinnati) that they had a few really good stations but that they either aren't around anymore or switched material. He said it was quite common to hear all of TAAB on the radio.
