Oh, cinema's magic power!
I love the film Sense And Sensibility when I was a teen, and it occured to me recently that Emma Thompson (I adore her as an actress though) was pushing 50 in it, yet she still played a 21 years-old girl. Talk about self-indulgence.
All right, is it just me or is Francesco di Giacomo the greatest singer that walks the earth?
And is Il Bacio della Medusa the greatest new band of the 00s?
|
It's just you. If I took singing lessons, clearly I'd be a much superior singer. And I haven't heard Il Bacio della Medusa, so I'll just assume they aren't the greatest.

I haven't been whining about school work because I don't go to school, or university or anything. And well, no job either right now I thought it would have been pretty obvious from the way I post that I was at least no older than 21 anyway

That's your response?
Well, I'm not putting you into my top ten until I hear proof...
And have you even got a contender for the greatest band of the 00s title?

Well, if I form a band before the end of this year, it will be the greatest band of the 00's. So yes, a possible contender.

Huh? I thought my beard was brownish and only half-full. (The best band of the 00s is Editors, but only because Interpol doesn't count.)

What if one were to remove both legs from Italian prog? It would no longer kick ass.

Interpol = generic indie-pop
Editors: never heard of them, listening to The Racing Rats as we speak (first thing that youtube suggested)

It'd be just a flesh wound.
Italian Prog would bite your leg off then kick ass with it...

My conclusion:
Editors: also generic indie-pop. The same sort of things we've been hearing for years. Kent was doing that in the 90s, which is when I started listening to that sort of music, and pretty much when I stopped too.
Just my opinion, should not be taken as fact.

Indie is one of those terms, like emo, that had it's definition warped so many times it doesn't even mean much anymore.

Maybe they (Interpol, Editors, The National, etc.) don't have the most original sound ever, but unlike most "generic indie-pop" bands, they make interesting songs.

Which is why i use the term "indie-pop".
Pop trying to sound indie.
