**Hold that thought - I have an interview with Frost* in about... any minute now.**

If I'm not on for the next 30 minutes that would be why

Well every time I try to write one, I end up putting too much effort into it.  I need to find a "system" of preparing the review where I can do enough research to know my sh*t, but without ruining the feel and enjoyment of it.  How do you prepare a review?

Don't prepare it. Just write a short summary of the general picture with the album. ie, what historical context it came in, its historical significance, what it sounds like in general terms and who you would recommend it, etc. Pleeeeeease avoid song-by song analyses or talking about musicians/compositions in technical terms. This is deathly boring and no one really wants to read it. The best reviews should be readable in about 5 minutes and not exceed  paragraphs. Hugues and Robert Christgau are probably the greatest reviewers ever, everyone needs to learn... Just my opinion of courseWink

Wish You Were Here [Columbia, 1975]
No dumb tribulations-of-a-rock-star epic here--the dedication to long-departed crazy Syd Barrett gives it an emotional resolve that mitigates what little self-pity lyricist Roger Waters allows himself. Even more remarkable, the music is not only simple and attractive, with the synthesizer used mostly for texture and the guitar breaks for comment, but it actually achieves some of the symphonic dignity (and cross-referencing) that The Dark Side of the Moon simulated so ponderously. And the cover/liner art is worthy of all the stoned raps it has no doubt already inspired. A-

If I could be this concise and on the spot, I'd be writing for NY times.

Hey Alex.  Let me see if I can pique your interest.  "Forever Einstein make the grooviest country rock meets Henry Cow hybrid you'll ever hear...and what's more it's playful, complex and devillishly creative".

Yes, but I can't figure out how to get the counts off there without syncing the iPod, which would mean that I would have to erase everything on the iPod

God, the day I was supposed to interview Helloween I thought I was going to throw up - and it was going to be done in person, so that didn't make it any better. I was so f**king nervous - after that nothing is nearly as bad

There's an option in last.fm that you need to activate and it will automatically allow you to scrobble any song played on an Ipod to your last.fm profile.
