I'm not moving.

Well it's cosy here, so I'm not going anywhere until I see some significant lag.

But they're not really representative of the avant-garde sound either.

I still think maybe we should have:

RIO/RIO-orientated
Avant-prog

That would separate lots of stuff and allow albums to climb up the charts.

Sometimes I wish we could have a separate sub for chamber prog.

Well, that's your call - it's not my sub.

I just don't think he should be moved.

So who's making Shred 3?

If I think avant, what's the first artist that I think of? Zappa. Moving him would be like putting Rush in Prog Related because of their 90s albums.

He's not the first artist I think of though.

I have to go with James on this one. When I think avant, I think Henry Cow, Art Bears, Samla Mammas Manna, etc etc. Zappa does have some avant albums, but he also has some jazz fusion ones and some (probably) eclectic ones. Quite honestly though, I think leaving him where he is is perfectly fine. If he ended up getting moved to a different genre, the arguments about what genre to put him in would create a sh*tstorm IMO.

James - we're not going to add Madonna, so stop asking.

By the way, you should watch the video I posted on the last page LOL

"Elitest Avant Proggers"

I don't think it would be a good move. Like I said, he's one of the founders of the genre, why move him?
I thought it might be that one but I don't see how it has anything to do with FZ.

Because he encompasses much more than that genre and his other albums mislead people into thinking the genre is something it's not.

^^^You just continued to prove my point. Now not even Frank Zappa is avant enough to stay in the sub.

No, but did Krimso start Symphonic? Hell no. Is "Court Of The Crimson King" symphonic? No. Did we move Genesis to Neo or Xover because of ...Then There Were Three... or Abacab? No.

Edit - why did this post fail so hard? LOL

Yes Krimso did start off as Symphonic.  Even Pete Sinfield said so.

I have about 30 pages to read for school tomorrow, so not too bad. Right now I'm working on a review that I've been putting off for awhile and chillaxing.
