Add to that the name of one of our science teachers, Mr Robert Sole...Yep! Honest! Mr R.Sole. Also, my English teacher Mr. Lawrence 'Spunky' Seaman. Edited by Man Erg - January 13 2009 at 06:51 |

For some reason that reminds me we had a music teacher in junior school called Mr Hoar (alas we were too young/naive to capitalise on that one) |

We had a sports teacher called Mr. Hoar.He played football for the then Southern League team,Weymouth Town. 'Frosty was his nickname of course. He was into quite a bit of prog'. His favourite bands were Trace,Ekseption and Alquin! Now there's niche for ya.A sports teacher almost exclusively into Dutch prog rock. Edited by Man Erg - January 13 2009 at 06:57 |

And was it just my school, but were all art teachers in the 1970's without exception, hippies (we had three art teachers - you've never seen so much cheesecloth )?

We had two sets of teachers that were polar opposites. One set were tweedy and looked as though thay had fought for their country in the 1st Boer War.The male teachers weren't any better. There was more ink on their shirts and jackets than than there was in the many pens that they clipped to their jacket breast pockets. These were mainly history, geography and music teachers The other group of teachers were definately hippies. These were mainly art and drama teachers.Saying that; The biggest hippy of the lot was 'Big Phil' the lab tech.He did a roaring trade in bootleg and knock-off albums. One supply teacher who taught art was also a part-time member of Liquid Lens Lensmen,Hawkwind's lighting crew! He is now head of the Wetlands Trust! Our drama teacher,Mr 'Nosey' Parsons, wanted to stage a play based on Fairport's, 'John Babbacombe Lee'. Thems woz da daze! Edited by Man Erg - January 13 2009 at 07:35 |

Our Drama teach Mr DaSilva was the full 'Luvvie' wannabe actor - that's when he wasn't trying to get into our environmental studies teacher's underwear - which if you believe certain rumours about a field trip...
Ah - I can smell the chalk dust, disinfectant & over-worn (and under-cleaned) leather-elbowed tweed jackets now |

One of my PE teachers went on to play for the England hockey team at the Olympics (not saying which one for fear of being sued) and he was a right .

I remember someone saying our headmaster (Mr Swallow... ) was on the British coaching squad at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 - which probably meant he drove the coach.

Let's have an old fashioned sing-song around the ol'joanna, 'ere's one you'll all remember:
All together now.... Oooooooooo.... in the year 1486 the Malleus first appeared, designed to kill all witchcraft and end the papal fears... sing up!... prescribing tortures to kill the Black Arts...and the Hammer struck hard
