Canada? That's only 5 hours... you should try coming back from Australia! That was 20 years ago for me & I'm still a bit sleepy...

Is there any lardy cake?
No cake for me please, I'm on a diet...

As soon as I've finished all the biscuits, chocolates and Christmas cake that's still left. Well, I don't like to see food go to waste, especially when someone's gone to the trouble of giving it to me.

Oh, and welcome back Rach.

I'd get rid of the 16 day old Turkey though Alan... I know you're having to make some domestic savings now, but even if you curried those leftovers, I still think you'd be taking up several days' residence in the Shed lean-to/ compostable toilet....Ouch

Hmmm I know what you mean... ; that strange middle aged bloke in my mirror's starting to look like a fairground mirror image...

Mind you - looking out the window, it's Turkish Delight I think I'm going to try to avoid, as Stevenage looks like Narnia at the moment.

No, but I have. But coffee's a helluva drug and negates my petty homicidal tendencies.

I love the dream I had last night, by the way. Magnifique!

I had a work colleague, who ran one of the small hostel in the Lake District several years ago, who was famed for making an oatcake 'flapjack' which had similar qualities...Wink

There's a surprise - 17 year old young lady wanders into The Shed & James's ears prick up.

Hmmm - reading the last couple of pages, I realise I may have inadvertently offended a forum member.

The comment, made purely as a reference to the former youngest patron of the Shed noticing an even younger member, who coincidentally happens to be female was meant in a light hearted whimsical way & in no way to cause offence.

If such was taken, my apologies.

+++

Now - back to Shed matters - ie, gardening, or the absolute impossibility of such in the current Hertfordshire permafrost & the failure of a Herefordshire man to make himself known when a mere 8 miles from my domicile.

Discuss.

Apology accepted, Jim.

I've been unwell recently and also may have sciatica (which does not affect the brain, obviously), so my mind isn't fully as it should be (tiredness, feeling cranky and suchlike).  This means I feel more aggrieved than usual.

And Jim, it's not just your comments, I have noticed others (not in here).  Yours just sparked my emotions off a tad.

And for the record: I happened to post in here in reply to the Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells BBC4 performance and not because Vicky posted here.  Her appearance at the same time was just a coincidence.

Thanks for all your welcome backs!   It's good to be home, although it's a mite cold here!   I've caught up on sleep, had the scoot MOT'd and am looking forward to a weekend with the kids in Rotherham, which should be a laugh!

Our turkey is still in the freezer waiting to be finished up - I made it into soup.
