One of my absolute favorite directors, a visual master which always makes you want to be in the place (and time) where the movie takes place. That´s not to say he hasn´t done some... let´s say non-good movies. Pretty much the whole ´90 isn´t very good. But he came back with a vengence... Gladiator, which along with Blade Runner (although I think it still beats it) is my favorite from him, and a string of great movies: Black Hawk Down, Matchstick men, Kingdome of heaven, American Gangster and the latest Body of lies... all great movies on it´s own, specially American gangster!!!

I'll go with Gladiator, but check out Jake Scott's movie Plunkett and Macleane.

Gladiator is fun, but it's not a great movie by any means (I still can't believe it won Best Picture, even in the total crap year that was 2000). For me it comes down to Alien, Blade Runner- The Final Cut, or his director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven. I have to go with Blade Runner.

Ranked, I'd say:

1. Blade Runner FC
2. Kingdom of Heaven DC
3. Alien
4. Black Hawk Down
5. Legend DC
6. American Gangster
7. Gladiator
8. Matchstick Men
9. Body of Lies
10. Duelists

He's actually got way more misses than hits, but when he connects he tends to hit it out of the park (my top five are all some of my favorite movies).

I reckon Alien is my favorite.  The best of that series, and a damn good horror film.  Blade Runner would be the obvious follow up in the list.  I like that one too, but I've never connected with it quite like others have.  The only other film of Scott's that I've really enjoyed is probably Matchstick Men.

Ridley Scott is my favotite director, so it's really difficult to choose a favorite movie, despite the superb final cut of Blade Runner last year...

Black Hawk Down is one of the most visceral movies dealing with modern armed conflict I think you can get, but doesn't forget little things like character development, so that's definitely a contender.

I'm a sucker for a well made epic movie, so Gladiator (the first DVD I ever bought), 1492 and Kingdom Of Heaven are in with a shot too...

But who am I kidding?

Blade Runner not because of the excellent directing but because of the brilliant sound track by that Greek guy.

No love for The Duellists? I think that's Scott's best display of talent and craftsmanship. Comparing the means used for The Duellists with those used for the more spectacular & better funded Alien and Blade Runner, I find its accomplishments amazing.

On a side note, I find Scot's first three films as being a stunning "debut series", unmatched even by any of the other greater directors like Tarkovsky or Fellini or Kurosawa etc. It's also true that Scott was a late comer, being already 40 years of age at the release of "The Duellists".

Body of Lies never really went anywhere. It started with such an interesting premise then just kind of fizzled its way through its length. It could have been a modern version of his own Kingdom of Heaven, something that broke down and analyzed radical Islamists and how America helped them before fighting them. Instead it was an action movie without a lot of action. But all the critics who thought they were hilarious saying "Russell Crowe really PHONES IN his performance hahaha" made me want to scream.

I thought it was a good action movie. The plot does get a bit... dim at the end, but I must say I really enjoyed it. I´d say it´s a 3,5 movie with some great camera work! Technically, it´s Ridley at it´s best... like always

I went for Blade Runner as well though it was close with Alien.I just finished do andrioids dream of electric sheep which i've earnt even more respect for Ridley.Good book kind of sh*tty ending.
