It works fantastically too.

Right, don't need redundancies.  I had nothing and took the plunge.

Alimony and prog buying support compared

Alimony is prog buying support, which is another ongoing financial obligation often established in divorce. Prog buying support is where one ex-partner is required to contribute to the support of his or her ex-partners prog addiction through the agency of the CD stores owner(s).

I prefer punk but some hardcore is interesting.

Still prefer punk by a long run.

I do not get along with the classics, like Ramones, Sex Pistols and others of similar ilk, at all to be honest.
I go for post punk, post hardcore, melodic hardcore and emo before it became emo.

I don't really like the Ramones or the Sex Pistols either. In the classic department, The Stooges were way better for a start. And then a lot of post punk bands were incredible. And I like myself some trash punk sometimes. It's also fun to play during a jam.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

A gambling problem is nothing compared to a prog addiction.

I don't know the difference between post hardcore, hardcore, and hardcore punk, but hardcore punk is generally awful.  I like stuff like the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedies, Clash, etc. but the good stuff is the clever punk, post-punk, no-wave etc.  More of an artistic movement and less of a reactionary angst fest.  Plus the whole DIY movement is very interesting.  It's kind of weird how Peter Hammill was an early DIY artist and then created some proto-punk on Nadir's Big Chance in '75.

Bands like The Pop Group, Pere Ubu, Swell Maps, Magazine, Public Image Ltd. were far more "progressive" than a lot of modern prog.  Post-punk was influenced from a variety of sources, from dub reggae to krautrock, and it was really an awesome movement that, unfortunately, is very overlooked, especially here.  I haven't really been into it for much over a year now, and I still have a lot to explore.

Especially when us proggers with a prog-addiction would actually like original vinyl (and mint) copies of all the classic prog albums ever made (except those by ELP and Rush) as well as CD copies of all classic prog albums ever made (except those by ELP, Rush, Spock's Beard and Tormant Maxt) with full artwork and eargasmic sound.

It makes it all the more harder to want HARD copies and not digital downloads.

Absolutely. But I simply can't afford it. So I mostly buy downloads. I've got a small LP collection, but I limit it to favourites (and the complete Rush collection Embarrassed), and I enjoy building it slowly.

I sort of only "demand" hard copies of my absolute favorite bands, otherwise I get CDs if that's really the only source of the music.  If stuff is available through emusic (my #1) or amazon mp3 (#2) I'll go that route.  Now that iTunes is high quality and DRM free I might start hitting their store a bit more.

I have some rare stuff on vinyl but no classics (unless you class KC's Discipline and Yes' 90215 as classics).

I have three Art Zoyd albums on vinyl (or is it 4?) plus a Hugh Hopper album (Mecanic Pelorus I think) and even an album by Unrest, Work & Play and the not so brilliant VdGG offshoot.

I wonder if they're as cool as the guys in Miriodor. I went to the restaurant with the drummer and keyboardist last time. I'll chat with Rouge Ciel and see.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.
